Yeah, you need firebreathing in this as a ready source of manadumps.

Creatures: - Flamekin Brawler - Dragon Egg - Dragon Hatchling - Chartooth Cougar - Everflame Eidolon - Immolating Souleater - Hellkite Overlord - Goblin Fire Fiend - Furnace Whelp - Molten Ravager - Tattermunge Witch

Enchantments: - Firebreathing - Captive Flame - Ghitu Firebreathing - Shiv's Embrace - Dragonrage (Instant, gives all creatures firebreathing)

I would probably just cut some of the lower impact cards, like Flamekin Brawler, Flamekin Bladewhirl, etc. Creatures that are just piles of stats don't really do all that much, which is why I suggested those creatures with powerful etb/ltb effects.

A list of some creatures you might want to consider:

  • Akki Avalanchers: Sacrificing lands is suuper sketchy, but if your opponent has nothing and you need two more power to get the kill, you'll sac the land.
  • Boros Recruit: First strike is always good
  • Flamekin Brawler: Much like Akki Avalanchers, this guy comes with an activated ability (firebreathing) you probably don't want to use, but if its the difference between winning and losing, you'll be glad you have it
  • Goblin Balloon Brigade: once again, paying mana sucks, but flying is the type of thing that can be the difference between winning and losing
  • Goblin Cohort: Why get a 1/1 for 1 when you can have a 2/2 for 1? I don't think the downside should slow you down in this deck. Worth noting that Mogg Conscripts can be copies 4-8 if you want
  • Goblin Mountaineer: Mountainwalk might randomly win the game
  • Goblin Sledder: turn extra creatures into pump spells
  • Insolent Neonate: menace if you need to attack with him, rummage if you're not
  • Kolaghan Stormsinger: Haste built in
  • Mogg Fanatic: also a ping
  • Mudbutton Clanger: if you don't like Goblin Cohort this creature doesnt have the downside, but also isnt always a 2/2
  • Skirk Prospector: another way to make more mana. This one feels like it could really improve the deck's performance if you leave Dragon Mantle in, by letting you stock up mana in early turns by casting a hand full of creatures
  • Spark Elemental: 3 power, haste and trample, but you only get 1 shot

I think my favorites from this list are Spark Elemental, Insolent Neonate, and Goblin Sledder, but im putting down the whole list because I'm really not sure how this deck plays out

@born_through_fire

Slumbering dragon is nice, however since I don't have a way to give counters my opponent gets 4 free hits on me. Norn's Annex seems like a nice idea. Anything you can think of that could replace Flamekin Brawler

I used to run this deck in the Lorwyn days. Elementals will always have a place in my heart, but the reason they have never been competitive is that any strategy with Flamekin Harbinger, Incandescent Soulstoke, and [insert changeling/elemental fatty here] is that it's too linear and you can see it coming from a mile away (Flamekin Harbinger puts it on your library, not into your hand). Sometimes you can get an opponent off guard the first time of game 1, but after that you need to change your strategy because It's so susceptible to removal.

Elementals need to go wide and use Incandescent Soulstoke as a lord to pump the crowd instead of fish out fatties that get removed.

I would cut down down on the following:

Flamekin Harbinger

Incandescent Soulstoke

Nova Chaser

Supreme Exemplar

And consider adding:

Flamekin Bladewhirl (better turn 1 aggro play than harbinger)

Flamekin Brawler (great mana sink for mid-late game Smokebraiders)

Inner-Flame Acolyte (cheap evoke to boost power)

Soulbright Flamekin (trample to your team and ramp)

Thunderblust (better option than nova chaser due to persist after you sac it from soulstoke)

Blades of Velis Vel (changeling/elemental spell to pump your team)

Upvote for Lorwyn. Best block ever!

Thanks for all the advice so far. At the moment I'm looking at replacing the following:

Flamekin Brawler with Goblin Glory Chaser , Jackal Pup with Rakdos Shred-Freak , Pillage with Smash to Smithereens , Serrated Arrows with Magma Jet , Comet Storm with Tormenting Voice

But, this has lead to more questions:

1) Should I get rid of the Dangerous Wager and replace them with two more Tormenting Voice

2) Should I replace Brute Force with Titan's Strength? Is it worth having it there for defense or would I be better off with the scry instead?

3) If I get rid of Avatar of Discord, should I put in two more Flametongue Kavu or should I consider another "big" creature?

4) I really like the idea of adding Break Through the Line, but I'm not sure what to take out? Could I ditch one or two of the Smash to Smithereens? Could I get away with only one or will I need to put in multiple?
