Demonic Pact / Donate Deck

Legacy Deck Help forum

Hey guys

I want to build a deck around using Demonic Pact and Donate, so essentially a Blue/Black control deck that can survive through enough turns.

I'm relatively new back in to Magic, so my deck building skills aren't that great, which is why I'd like your input.

Here's what I have so far (based off cards I already own) - have money to buy new ones!

Creatures

1 x Dragonlord Silumgar, 1 x Tasigur, the Golden Fang, 3 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip, 1 x Ob Nixilis Reignited, 1 x Stratus Dancer

Spells

3 x Silumgar's Command, 3 x Demonic Pact, 4 x Donate, 2 x Ruinous Path, 2 x Doom Blade, 2 x Ultimate Price, 2 x Negate, 2 x Dispel, 1 x Swan Song, 1 x Thoughtseize, 2 x Duress

Artifacts

2 x Claws of Gix

Lands

2 x Polluted Delta, 1 x Sunken Hollow, 12 x Swamp, 9 x Island

As I said, this deck is based on cards that I currently already own... and I have 3 slots still to fill, so looking for suggestions for the open slots, and suggestions for the deck overall.

I'm thinking I really should be playing 4 x Demonic Pact as this is one of my main win conditions?

I also have a lot of double black (Demonic Pact, Ruinous Path and Ob Nixilis Reignited, so is my current mana allocation correct or not?

well I suppose the first observation I have is that you are obviously trying to play this casually, right? As Donate is legacy legal and the rest of your deck does not look like it could compete in Legacy.

This is very similar to the old Donate + Illusions of Grandeur deck so I would look at that for some inspiration.

I have tried my hand at a list that abuses Demonic Pact in a similar way in modern by using Puca's Mischief to give it away.

I hope I have helped!

You could run Illusions of Grandeur for another thing to donate. And Chain of Vapor to either reset your pact or remove Illusions of Grandeur once its donated.. Ancient Tomb seems like something to consider as well, you have a lot of expensive cards..

Yes this is for casual play... ideally both multiplayer and 1v1.

Ahh, I love the idea of Illusions of Grandeur, as you guys said, gives something else to donate.

Nice one, cheers guys!
