Muldrotha Commander HELP

Commander Deck Help forum

At FNM I ranked 9 among the twelve that won, and I received 2 dominaria packs and pulled a Muldrotha, the Gravetide . I want to build a commander deck using muldrotha but I have no idea where to start so i'm mainly just asking for suggestions, thanks.

There's tons of things you can do with it. There's a good reason that some people call it the value engine.

Me personally I think the land you can pump out with its ability is pretty cool.

Just think getting returning value on every turn with cards like Evolving Wilds or better yet fetch lands and Sakura-Tribe Elder

Muldrotha is primarily built a few different ways. First, lands matter (expensive due to Azusa, Fetchlands, etc.), there's also the value/recursion route (very flexible on budget but some of the best options are pricey). Stax (very cutthroat, expensive, and not fun to play against). I'm personally a combination of lands matter and value.

Here's the top Muldrotha decks on this site... http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/search/?q=&cards=&general=muldrotha-the-gravetide&is_top=on&price_0=&price_1=&o=-rating&submit=Filter+results (mines 5th from the top) and edhrec is a great place to start for any commander. https://edhrec.com/commanders/muldrotha-the-gravetide

Some of the effective Muldrotha decks i've seen are combo decks that run quite similar to Tasigur and Sidisi combo decks. Most use Hermit Druid, Necrotic Ooze and Flash Hulk lines.

You can use Second Chance with Muldrotha to take infinite turns, as long as you're on 5 or less life. If you use some cards that let you pay life for an effect (like Unspeakable Symbol), you can enable this pretty easily.

The value creatures available in sultai are great, so my Muldrotha deck is mostly filed up with those. And counterspells and ramp, but no big infinite combos. Except Mindslaver, its too easy not to include. If its a good deck without the commander in play then with Muldrotha in play it should be awesome. Not sure how recently I've updated it but here's my list:

Muldrotha, LGS End Boss Deluxe

Last_Laugh Drakorya Homelessguy Megalomania Rzepkanut Unfortunately i'm on a budget, but that's not going to last forever.I mainly play standard so spending a crap load of money on a commander deck probably isn't the best thing to do right now.

shirouu: sorry man, I didn't realise Second Chance was that expensive! I was looking at building the list online, and it's only a 1 cent card on MTGO.

It depends on how you want to build the deck, but the good cheap cards I was looking at for Muldrotha were creatures and enchantments that have good sacrifice abilities, and spells that let you draw and discard (since discarding isn't that bad when you can play the cards from your graveyard with your commander).

So cards like Breakthrough, Windfall, Kagemaro's Clutch, Seal of Doom, Seal of Primordium, Sinister Concoction, Courier's Capsule, Executioner's Capsule, Mind Stone, Alchemist's Apprentice, Caustic Caterpillar, Fleshbag Marauder, and Merciless Executioner.

Also, cards like Secrets of the Dead and River Kelpie are good too (though River Kelpie may be too pricey).
