So one card fucked me over with this deck, turn 3 I had 3 Bears and a Lord of the unreal, I thought I was looking great because my opponent only had a Diregraf Ghoul , but he pulled some bullshit by drawing into Revenge of the Hunted and swinging, causing 5 trample damage from all the bears and 6 trample damage from my LOTU... totalling 21 damage and killing me... on turn 3... with a god damn diregraf ghoul haha, any thoughts anyone?

I'd say get a few Force of Will to counter with, only problem is they're expensive, I think around $65.

and this deck is standard so they wouldn't work

I want to take out all white cards and go mono blue, adding in card:Jace's Phantasm's, Sleep 's, and some Redirect 's, any thoughts?

Mind Sculpt is REALLY good with card:Jace's Phantasm, triggers it's ability SO much faster. Kinda throws off the idea of the deck but just an idea.

I know and I have seriously thought about adding them, but I honestly just don't have room for them since they aren't part of my win-con and they aren't strong enough by themselves to be another win-con, honestly I would rather pull out the phantasm's and add Delvers

Do you have a replacement for Frost Titan since he's rotating out?

Not so far, do you have a suggestion?

I would definitely say Delver of Secrets  Flip over card:Jace's Phantasm here. Since you have virtually no mill included in this deck, the Phantasm will likely never see a 5/5 version(unless you think you can kill enough stuff that fast). With 1/3 of your deck being instants/sorceries Delver is going to get you a lot more mileage and early rush than the Phantasm. Another card I would definitely look into, perhaps in place of say Redirect or Mana Leak once it rotates is Thought Scour . More card draw is great in a deck like this(or really ANY deck for that matter).

I thought of the delver after I made this deck so now I just gotta get my hands on some Delvers haha, also I just want to see what come out to replace mana leak when it rotates out, though more draw advantage is always good :)

I love how you have Frost Titan in here! He is just mean!

August 12, 2012 2:23 a.m.

strateupjee says... #13

You have no idea haha, he is incredible just in the fact he can tap down lands! Also last night he let me tap down their only flyer to swing for 14 with 2 dragons and 2 lords out, it was just mean haha, also I feel he is WAY under-used and I really don't know why haha

August 12, 2012 2:25 a.m.

CrimsonKing says... #14

i think Frost Titan is just as good as the other titans. Out of all the titans, i'm only afraid of seeing a Frost Titan hit the battlefield. Also, really cool freakin deck!

strateupjee says... #15

I think most of the titans are sick, but I have to agree that Frost is one of the scarier ones, just in that most people don't really have an answer to him, and thanks man, I really wanted a control deck, but my problem was I didn't know what direction to take it because delver aggro controls are too expensive for me to get the cards to, and something like a solar flare I didn't have the card base for it, but I got lucky :3 a friend of mine had quit magic and he had 2 decent sized boxes full of cards, so one night headed to his house, got em, and me and 2 other friends just went to town on the boxes, as soon as I saw I had 4 Phantasmal Bear s and 4 Phantasmal Dragon s I knew what I had to do xD so I bought the lords and now I have what you see before you xD

So i have thought of what I might do with this deck if/when illusion rotate out, this is what I have, though of course ill be waiting to see what is in Ravnica :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-4 Phantasmal Bear
-4 Phantasmal Dragon
-4 Lord of the Unreal
-4 Ponder
-4 Mana Leak
-2 Frost Titan
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

+3 or 4 Negate

+3 or 4 Essence Scatter

+4 Divination

+2 Talrand, Sky Summoner

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what I have so far, once Ravnica cards are revealed ill be taking a look at them
kldfjlaksdj says... #17
4 Negate is good. 2 Essence Scatter or just use Dissipate for critters. I watched Think Twice get a TON of mileage this week at my local standard tourney. I would go 3 Talrand and look into card:Talrand's Invocation. It works well on top of Talrand as well as gives you a flying critter. I played against a dude running an interesting Merfolk style control this week. Master of the Pearl Trident was huge in it. Maybe you can play this a little more aggressively, and look into those?
August 13, 2012 9:57 p.m.
strateupjee says... #18
Quite possibly, and the only reason I'd go 3 or 4 of each would be just straight up more control haha, and I'm gonna have a lot of room to tweak once damn near all my cards rotate :( but I do like that idea and i'll definitely look into it since ill be losing a LOT of creatures (sadface)
strateupjee says... #19
I just thought of what to do to restore my cards, im gonna go back to U/W, however I'm going to stick with my heavy control theme and go
3 Essence Scatter
4 Negate
4 Dissipate
4 Redirect
For my control base
+4 Oblivion Ring
+4 Elite Inquisitor
+4 Doomed Traveler
+2 Glacial Fortress
The doomed traveler's would be just for turn 1 plays
I would put in some Phantasmal Image s if you have them (although they're rotating out as well in october). If you can play a Lord of the Unreal and then copy it with an Image you now have a hexproof Lord because it blankets itself with the effect even if the original Lord is removed somehow.
August 15, 2012 7:37 a.m.
strateupjee says... #21
I would have to double image the Lord so that they would stay hexproof, but i'm not gonna spend 20-40 dollars on cards that are rotating in october, if they rotate back in I will definitely be getting them, but I doubt they will
Deco_y says... #22
12 counter spells is a little overkill. I wouldn't go more than 8 or 9.
Phantasmal Image is a must for Illusion decks to be good. Just such a staple.
Adding Talrand to this deck is also an interesting idea.
August 16, 2012 3:19 a.m.
strateupjee says... #23
I run that many just because I don't have the money to put in the nicer cards, so instead of having a better battlefield, I just control theirs more haha, also I wanted Phantasmal Image soooo bad for soooo long but now I feel its too close to rotation to spend the 10 bucks a pop on him, so unless a miracle happens and illusions stay in Ravnica, he will move to the back burner so that I can work on my new My U/W Delver Control (Post-Rotation), also I really wanted/want 2 Talrands just because he is so incredible
August 16, 2012 2:59 p.m.
poprocksncoke says... #24
understandable not wanting to spend that much money on the cards. to clarify the combo though, the single Phantasmal Image as a copy of Lord of the Unreal will be hexproof because the lords text doesn't specify "other" cards. So since the image becomes an illusion in addition to the other types it gets the blanket effect of hexproof and +1/+1.
