Sideboard

Just thinking ahead to the interesting interaction between Fraying Omnipotence and Raiders' Wake / Fell Specter because of the ordering on Omnipotence. Basically your opponent is cut in half (presumably to somewhere between 7-10 health) and THEN they discard half of their hand rounded up. This means that if they have 5 or 6 cards in hand they will discard three cards after losing half their health. With either the Specter or Wake on the board, that adds an additional 6 damage. If you then attack with the Specter or a Freebooter or a Dreamstealer to trigger Raid and force another discard plus their attack damage and likely just chunk away all of their health in one painful turn. Dreamstealer is cool because if unblocked it will also cause a discard for 2 damage and then trigger Raid for another discard. Doing this with 5 cards in hand along with the Omnipotence means your opponent will discard all 5 cards and lose up to 20 health all at once on turn 5.

Curving out on turns 3 with Dreamstealer, 4 with Raiders' Wake (or Fell Specter), and then 5 with Fraying Omnipotence is a nice way to win. Discard is not particularly played outside of 8-rack in Modern as a main strategy, so it won't be expected to do so much all at once (especially with such undervalued cards like Dreamstealer and Raiders' Wake).

I really wish with all the reprints in M19 and Dominaria we got some kind of Howling Mine(s) and/or Kami of the Crescent Moon(s) in Standard to make sure your opponent has plenty of cards in hand to keep the discard train rolling. The closest thing I'd consider is Ghirapur Orrery to force 4 cards drawn from an empty hand, but it's just too expensive. Anything that adds card draw every upkeep for 2 mana would be perfect. Oh well. Again, I'm just getting this down to take another crack at discard in Standard as a main wincon.

This also doubles as a Curse deck of sorts with Torment of Scarabs and Torment of Hailfire as added wincons for when your opponent runs out of gas so to speak. Cabal Stronghold can generate a ton of mana for a nice big Hailfire. Urgoros, the Empty One isn't a very good card, but random discard is, and always will be, hilarious to me (from my side of the table).

Another consideration pre-rotation is Herald of Anguish, but this is not an Improvise-friendly build so I left him out. On that note, I do happen to have an Improvise-friendly black deck that I may want to slot in some of these shenanigans to try them out while I can. The problem is that the mainboard doesn't have a discard theme at all, so I could maybe just use the shell and see what happens with yet another build lol.
