Olivia, Troll Shaman of the Fells

elgortbl

Standard

Score: 13

Description

Jund beatdown with a variety of win conditions and diverse enough meta to win in a variety of ways and not be completely susceptible to blowout losses.

The most important creatures are Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip and Olivia Voldaren . Huntmaster is a source of life gain, spot removal, and tokens while Olivia is spot removal and grows very quickly.

Suggestions, comments, and +1s are always appreciated! Please playtest!

looks pretty good, not sure about Hypersonic Dragon because you only have 4 sorcery spells... and you also have to think about how u can deal damage to cast Rakdos, Lord of Riots if you plan to plan him turn 4

I just like Hypersonic Dragon because it of the flying and haste - nasty combination with Thundermaw Hellkite .

As far as the damage, I'm planning on casting Rakdos, Lord of Riots after combat phase or I can use Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius 's ability or Izzet Charm . I've considered removing Abrupt Decay for more Izzet Charm s but I'm not sure. What do you think?

well if u havnt noticed, all ur creatures r flying, something like Magmaquake and/or Rolling Temblor fits in very nicely. i would sub out desecration demons for 3x Bloodgift Demon u can use his ability for ur rakdos if need be as well.

if you have Thundermaw Hellkite , a Deadeye Navigator will just cause people to rage quit. it can remove any and all flyers to clear the way.

That's a great idea. Any suggestion on what to remove for 2x Deadeye Navigator ?

Frostburn Weird actually works really well early game to stall until I can get one of my big swingers out or hit a huge card:Rakdos's Return / Bonfire of the Damned .

Bloodgift Demon can be nice for card advantage but I don't need another high drop creature. If I'm going to replace Frostburn Weird , I need a better low drop creature.

I like the Rolling Temblor /Magmaquake comment from earlier. Seems like a good fit.

What about Vampire Nighthawk over Frostburn Weird ?

I really like Vampire Nighthawk . In fact, he's one of my favorite cards in standard.

However, I found that I could never play him early because of the BB in his mana cost. Frostburn Weird is absurdly easy for me to get out, generally by turn 3.

As far as the Rolling Temblor / Magmaquake idea, Bonfire of the Damned is my lone boardwipe, so I'm not really sure what I'd remove for it. Possibly Pillar of Flame ?

I guess it's true that the most expensive deck will win. +1 for the flavor and badassness of the deck. -1 cause I'm super jelly right now (no, really, just a +1 for ya). But I am still super jelly.

have you ever considered Nightshade Peddler over Borderland Ranger ? think about it paired with a huntmaster of olivia. both important cards in your deck. just a thought

Nightshade Peddler could make for some excellent spot removal, but Borderland Ranger helps stabilize my mana very well. I'll definitely playtest with it and look into that.

November 8, 2012 8:11 p.m.

I know that Borderland Ranger is a fetch and a 2/2 body, but your 3 CMC slot is quite full. In order to better your curve, and to fetch a shockland, I would suggest cutting it for 2x more Farseek . At least Farseek is one less and puts the land on the battlefield rather than in your hand.

I have a Jund Aggro deck also that's pretty quick. Still tweaking it:

Ugly Schtick

Good early game. Good synergy with Dreg Mangler and Slitherhead , plus if I get mana screwed I can let Thundermaw Hellkite at least be somewhat productive.

Kessig Wolf Run ! Another win con for you. Also, I would just like to re-iterate the Nightshade Peddler idea. Nightshade Peddler + Olivia Voldaren + BR = Kill target creature. Same goes for a huntmaster flip. It's worth looking into. Then just imagine thundermaw... jeeze it's crazy.

I made a whole deck around that actually does very well! Check it out if you want!
