Tempo includes
Exclusion Mage,
Sonic Assault, and
Naban, Dean of Iteration (usually). These cards may be a bit more surprising.
Sonic Assault doesn't seem great at first, but after further examination, you'll realize just how much damage this can push through. I the example above, My opponent would've only gone to 11 and I would've lost a creature, but with just one extra
Sonic Assault, I have killed my opponent. Another card that is surprisingly not here is
Merfolk Trickster. At first it seems like it would just be a better
Exclusion Mage, but there are two reasons why I like
Exclusion Mage better. First, the bounce to my opponent's hand not only makes them waste mana the following turn by recasting it, but it also allows me to then counter it with one of the 6 counterspells I am running. Additionally, the mana cost of
Merfolk Trickster isn't really an improvement since casting it earlier just means that I get rid of a weaker creature and the double blue in its mana cost is annoying especially if I want to leave up a counterspell.
- ===spoiler:Removal
Another fairly straightforward section of cards.
Wizard's Lightning and
Lightning Bolt double as damage and removal,
Wizard's Retort and
Ionize are amazing counterspells, and
Naru Meha, Master Wizard can help me caste these an extra time while also advancing my board presence.
