I've been trying for a while to make a janky rakdos or mono-R burn deck, and when i was sitting looking at stab wound i got an idea. You don't need burn spells, why not just have tons of clocks ticking down your opponents life each turn? This deck is most likely terrible and I've never playtested it (I might not even order the cards), but i think it looks fun. I am aware some of these cards are not standard, but in my playgroup we don't care much for that.Going through some of the cards:
Stab Wound
- Dealing damage every turn, making a creature weaker and baiting enemy removal on his/her own creature? Yes please!
Festering Wound - pretty much the same as stab wound but without the -2/-2
Vampire Nighthawk - Solid creature overall, takes down anything and gives you life while doing it. Gets pretty out of control if he is not dealt with.
Boros Reckoner - I happened to have 2 lying around, and he is great for blocking and at the same time throwing it in your opponents face or getting rid of creatures.
Purphoros, God of the Forge - Dealing damage to your opponents face with the threat of becoming a huge bomb if board is built up.
Master of Cruelties - can block pretty much anything and if he isn't blocked your opponent is pretty much dead.
Chandra, Pyromaster
- deals 1 damage every turn which fits my purposes, as well as making the enchanted creatures unable to block with +1, and if you get to the ult it's pretty much a win with thunderous wrath and lightning bolt.
Obsidian Fireheart - Making your opponents lands hot to the touch as well as being a decent size creature he is another force to be reckoned with.
Lightning Bolt and Thunderous Wrath - pretty obvious what it does.
Hellrider
- if you do manage to get some creatures out why not do even more damage? This guy helps keeping the pressure on your opponent and does it well. One extra damage per creature adds up quickly, and before you know it you've won.
Browbeat - nice card draw if the opponent lets you, if not it's another way of dealing damage to the face
Dismember - I couldn't find any more cards on theme, and removal never hurts (you anyways), so why not some of this cheap creature destruction to help delay the game.
Rakdos, Lord of Riots - With the way this deck has a habit of dealing damage every turn this guy should be pretty easy to get out, and while his other ability might not help you loads in this deck he is still a huge threat.
