klone13 Eiti3 Simon_Williamson This is what I have so far, but I'm having a hard time finishing the deck. I'm still not sure on the direction I should take. Now keep in mind that I don't want to spend more than 5 bucks per card. The cards that are in main board that are over 5 are either cards that I'd be willing to pay a little more for or something that I already own.

I really like the way it has come out so far, honestly there are more demons you may want to look for, and a copy spell here or there wouldn't kill you. Here is a list of them and maybe group draw cards like Temple Bell would be useful.

Well I highly recommend lands. That could fill the deck easily.

I know I need lands. I just don't like to add them until later because I like to figure it out after I know the ratio of the colors and CMC.

Add 15 of each before hand and then alter the lands as you go. As of right now I would suggest 17x Islands and 13x Swamps. Don't know if you are going to run any more nonbasics, due to budget restraints. If not, then add 2 to each of those numbers

A few more tutors would be nice to help search for cards would be nice. Mystical Tutor can search for any Tutor that you'd run to search the Sphinx.

The cheap black tutors like Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor are amazing, but sadly quite expensive. Diabolic Tutor and the new reiteration of it from RIX (forgot its name) are cheap alternatives.

Hope this helps!

Couple thoughts:

  • Thrumming Stone is a powerful card alongside Shadowborn Apostle. You never know if your primary win condition might be disrupted, and it is always a good idea to have backups. This will allow you to spam most, if not all, of your Apostles simultaneously.

  • Alongside above, you should have one or two high-costed demons. If you are forced to cast your Apostles, you might as well have some bombs you can pull with their sacrifice ability.

@Triton Unfortunately, Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor are out of my price range. I do have Mystical Tutor and Diabolic Tutor though. Thanks for the suggestions.

@cdkime I wasn't necessarily planning to play the apostles themselves, but I get where you're coming from. I should add a few demons just in case. Any preference on a certain demons? I was wanting to add Rune-Scarred Demon for another tutor. I'm just not sure on any others.

Love the combo! Gonna echo some thoughts here.

Razaketh's Rite, Demonic Collusion, Drift of Phantasms, Mastermind's Acquisition(Triton), Trinket Mage, Vedalken AEthermage, Dizzy Spell, Ethereal Usher, Netherborn Phalanx, Perplex are all a bunch of budget tutors you could consider. Many can do other things too which is nice.

Swan Song, Negate, Perplex, Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots may be a good start to a protection package for the combo.

Necrotic Ooze can act as a copy of the sphinx or Apostle if one of them is in the 'yard.

Also going to second cdkime. Thrumming Stone and a few big demons will serve as a good backup plan.

Hope some of this helps ya!

@Suns_Champion Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I never realized that with Library of Leng, transmute's better than I thought. I'm not sure about Necrotic Ooze, but I could try it out to see if I like it.
