Sideboard

Unique tron strategy of abusing budget green and red spells for grabbing the right lands for the right situation. For those unfamiliar with the strategy, you want to have Urza's Tower, Urza's Mine and Urza's Power Plant in play ASAP in order to drop big creatures by turn 3 ideally.

Myr Battlesphere is one of the main win cons in the deck, as he creates a board presence out of nowhere. Also, as you keep playing Battlespheres the damage your opponent will take will only increase. Steel Hellkite is a secondary win con, as this beast will sabotage any board trying to establish a board presence. Combine either creature with a perfectly timed Hall of the Bandit Lord and you can quickly stomp your opponent's face in. World Breaker is just insane in the deck. The removal ability interferes with tron and affinity strategies, plus with how much land you can play its never a big deal sacrificing a land to get him back.Walking Ballista is a surprise win condition, putting all your mana into an efficient pinger.

Part of the reason you run one mountain in the deck is for Kessig Wolf Run. In most games I played, no one ever expected to see this card and were surprised when I suddenly pumped a creature with +10/0 or even higher. Combined onto a Myr Battlesphere and you will see jaws drop.

Now the sideboard. The two notable cards worth mentioning are Crumble to Dust and Banefire. Tron typically doesn't handle control decks well, making Banefire a must have in case you run into an opponent who keeps countering your beaters. Crumble to Dust seems to be an expensive land destruction spell, but mana costs are not an issue for my deck. The card is brutal against other tron decks; its part of the reason why I won against another tron player.

The deck is pretty budget compared to other versions that run cards like Karn Liberated and Chalice of the Void. I will keep updates as to how the deck performs at FNM and maybe a GP or two as well. Let me know what you think of the deck and thanks for reading!

Overall I went 3 for 4.

Round 1 Against R/W/B: lost 2/1/0 My deck just couldn't respond fast enough to counter spells and I was slowly picked away. Myr Battlesphere and World Breaker helped me win the second match in the round but I couldn't keep pace during the 3rd.

Round 2 Against Mono Black Devotion: Won 2/1/0 Although my opponent keep forcing discards and kept trying to lock my out with Liliana of the Veil, I was able to mow down his board and any threats with Walking Ballistas and Steel Hellkites.

Round 3 was a Bye

Round 4 Against Red-Green Tron: Won 2/1/0 It was an unexpected game and we both had an amazing time. We frequently basically made mirror plays, however my budget Myr Battlespheres were coming out sooner than some of his bigger creatures. Also, a poorly timed Chalice of the Void locked out his board as well as mine. The game finisher was Crumble to Dust which basically disrupted his deck's entire game strategy.

All in all it was a fun night :)
