Any constructive thoughts on the deck itself?

well, running more arcane would give you a reason to run Psychic Puppetry which has a simic storm pauper/legacy deck built around the same idea. While it would change the deck's direction, it could potentially be more useful that Twiddle thanks to its reusability. If you were to go this rout, I'd replace Harmonize with Peer Through Depths for the dig, and maybe run it even without the puppetry simply because it helps grab Past in Flames.

Interesting thought! I'm a little skeptical due to the scarcity of good arcane spells, but I'll definitely build a modified list and test it to be sure! Thanks!

What do you think about having 2x Pore Over The Pages and 2x Harmonize in the mainboard now that SOI is out? Would the extra untaps for one extra mana make you want to play a playset even if you usually end up discarding a land card anyway?

I'd have to think about Pour Over the Pages...I will say, however, that it seems unlikely thinking about the efficiency: Ideas Unbound gives me three cards for two mana, and Harmonize is three cards for four mana, but ti is accessible without land enchantments. Meanwhile Pour Over the Pages is technically two cards for one mana (if I have two land enchantments), but I would need five initially. All in all, I will try it and let you know how it works!

Have you thought about Hidden Strings? It would have the potential to allow this earlier over a Twiddle or Dream's Grip? How relevant is the instant speed or the one mana?

The sorcery speed of Hidden Strings makes the deck less interactive. Sometimes tapping down a creature of my opponent's can change the game. Additionally, Hidden Strings needs to target two permanents/lands, whereas Twiddle and Dream's Grip only target one. This distinction is actually very important, because I want to load all of my land enchantments on one land: more than one would make my other untap-ers less efficient. Also, Hidden Strings is not more efficient than Twiddle or Dream's Grip. Does this make sense?

Okay, and I made up a testing file with it replacing hidden strings and it was more of a hindrance sometimes in comparison so I can see what you mean. Out of curiosity you should do a section in the main description on normal gifts routes. Like what are you attempting to gifts for other than just more cards?

This feels very weak and likely to fall prey to a single counterspell. The original Heartbeat/Desire Extended tech played a combo deck with control elements and a combo finish (if only Mind's Desire or even just Cunning Wish were legal).

This is actually the opposite and has too little resiliency/redundance. Sure, Twiddle effects can protect you in a pinch, but it takes too long and is too difficult to setup.

Boza This deck can fire turn three or turn four. In many modern matches, this is fast enough. My SB helps against counterspells, but more specifically, the meta is not very interactive towards instants and enchantments right now, so this deck sneaks through.

catslug_zakki Gifts really does just get me more cards, but more importantly, it gets me a higher storm count. I can get another Gifts Ungiven with a Past in Flames to guarantee another casting if I have enough mana. Or I could get Early Harvest, Twiddle, Dream's Grip, and any other card in order to guarantee more mana.

Personally I would run Izzet Charm for counter/draw and Gitaxian Probe for extra draw off of Past in Flames.

While Izzet Charm is an awesome card, it's technically not card advantage (just cycling). The counter can be nice, but the mana cost is too intensive to actually be playable over Harmonize or Ideas Unbound. Now I realize that Ideas Unbound is UU, so it doesn't seem much different from RU. However, given the number of Utopia Sprawls, UU is much easier to achieve than RU. Since so many other cards need blue, Utopia Sprawl is almost always set to blue.

Gitaxian Probe was a part of my original build, but the life payment made me lose winnable games to aggro decks (especially burn).

Thanks for the suggestions though!

I'm not convinced by twiddle storm as putting a lot of auras on 1 land seems like a bad plan in the current meta with ghost quarter being everywhere because of other land centric deck like tron, eldrazi, no-bloom bloom, etc. Although using Bring to Light in conjunction with Early Harvest might be a really good Idea for Heartbeat of Spring deck

Card_Distiller You are absolutely correct about the current meta making the all-in on one land difficult. However, my local meta has yet to shoot down lands consistently, so this deck is still pretty awesome for my FNMs. You do have a point though.

Funkydiscogod

Guttural Response is a solid sideboard choice.

Terra Eternal is ok. But I usually try to stop land destruction with specific spells (I'm looking into using Pithing Needle for Ghost Quarter). Thankfully, Crumble to Dust only targets nonbasic lands, so no need to worry about that :)

Unless I am missing some weird rules thing is Gift of Paradise not objectively better than Verdant Haven ?

In what matchup do you side in Lotus Bloom ?

AdNauseam12 You are correct! It’s been a while since I’ve looked at new sets, so I did not realize Gift of Paradise existed :)

Kjartan I use Lotus Bloom in matches where I think they will be able to destroy my forest. In some matches I will simply suspend Lotus Bloom and not play anything until turn four. Then I will use the three mana for enchanting the forest I play on that turn. It’s a pretty janky strategy, but I’ve had it pay off fairly consistently :)
