Merfolk has a hard time bouncing back from a board wipe or sometimes even just "I have a bigger dude than you" board. I figured a good way to answer both of these things is adding black. Gruesome Menagerie allows you to easily come back to a very tricky board after being wiped and applying immediate pressure once again. Things like Cast Down and Assassin's Trophy can provide answers that the merfolk deck didn't have before.

Currently it's still a concept but I like the idea of these cards working together.
