Overview
This is a deck I made to play casualy with friends. It isn't the best a mono-blue mill deck can be (on purpose), but it IS a nice crab tribal deck with plenty of fun things to do.
It has a few counterspells to keep big creatures away; A bit of snow to play in for the kiddos; A horde of decopods; A defensive plansewalker to guide the horde of decopods to victory; And bit of supporting enchantment trickery to help things along.
A bit more in depth
3 of each of Hedron Crab, Iceberg Cancrix, and Ruin Crab for the mill.
Since I already had Iceberg Cancrix and a bunch of Snow-Covered Islands, I added Marit Lage's Slumber as an alternate wincon and Winter's Rest to up the snow permanent cap while also locking down your opponents creatures. I also discovered there are snow utility lands and added Frostwalk Bastion for cases where you need that extra block and Mouth of Ronom for that extra bit of creature damage. Scrying Sheets is also in there for the extra draws when you are low on options. It is kinda hit or miss because about half the card's aren't snow, and when you miss you just get to look at your top card which isn't too helpful, but when need have extra mana it can gets you an extra draw almost half the time.
Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer can keep a creature grounded and easier to block while you work towards ult'ing for all-you-can-tap card draw. While she could technically be used to create 4/4 birds, this is discouraged as birds are not crabs. Levitation can also be used to stop flyers, and flying crabs are basically birds anyway so you who needs Yanling's <-3> amiright? If you are playing against a super flying heavy deck, I did include one non-crab creature in the sideboard that should be able to keep your opponent in check, but it should only be used as a last resort.
Call to the Kindred, or Call to the Crabs as I like to call it, will help ramp up the mill by pulling out mill crabs almost every turn and can also be used to pull out Drownyard Behemoths for next to nothing.
Vexing Scuttler lets you retrieve your counter spells for protection or Startled Awake
s for some accelerated milling action. Startled Awake
can also get itself out of the graveyard on its own, but this is discouraged as it become a nightmare creature and we don't want anyhing to do with non-crabs.
A handful of 4-drop exo-skeletal bois will help block more substantial creatures and can be awoken into the eldrazi crabs for 3-4 mana. They also bring with them some all-important crab-related flavour text.
Additional Notes
You could ditch the snow for more tribal interaction from cards like Obelisk of Urd and Vanquisher's Banner and the like. I'd give more sugestions but then I'd just be building another deck.
There is also some sracasm around not using any parts of the cards that would let you get a non-crab. You can of course ignore this restriction; I'm not gonna come after you for not being 100% on theme (I can't speak for the crabs though).
