Well, I tried. I face 3 bascially mono-colored decks which weren't running any fetchlands. I won the first handily, a mono-green brew that transformed permanents into artifacts and destroyed them.
The next two were simply better "go wide" strategies than mono-white Death & Taxes: Elves and Fish. I needed the disruption that came with Black, and I didn't run it. I'm heading back to good, old Orzhov.
