Gatecrash Ready —Jan. 22, 2013

The deck is finally gatecrash ready.

There are probably a few things to change, because obviously, i havnt play-tested this deck in a tournament setting. With the meta changing as well, who is to say what is the best choice at the moment?

Right now, as the deck stands on Tappedout, the 3 Frontline Medics in the list are actually the Boros Reckoner. (pic below)

I have a feeling it will be good. Spark Trooper is also important.

I have a deck very similar to this one, but with no green. I have cards that almost mirror yours but all of them are WR, I find it helps with my mana issues. for instance I use Bonds of Faith instead of Rancor , and while the trample is really nice with first strike, bonds can be used to get that pesky Thragtusk out of the way. And while Mayor of Avabruk buffs your champion when it enters Honor of the Pure is less susceptible to removal.

I really do like your War Priest of Thune though. right now im running Cursebreak in my side for card:Curse of Death's Hold. And where did your Champion of Lambholt go?

Haha, you know... Bonds of Faith might be a little more exciting than Selesnya Charm .. actually... hmm...

If Honor the Pure was still standard, i'd run the shit outta that! Currently, i'm screwing with this deck left and right, trying to figure out how it will adapt to gatecrash. The mana will be fixed, i have no fears about running Naya, but certain creatures have to go, and certain creatures have to stay. At the moment, im trying to balance it all out.

This is my signature deck, so its the one i change the most. It might be different tomorrow. :P

Yes, War Priest of Thune is a surprising life saver. Detention Sphere , Spectral Flight , Ethereal Armor , Oblivion Ring , it stops a lot, and gives me the upper hand. Not to mention its a 2/2 human. :D

Champion of Lambholt has been a bit underwhelming in recent weeks. I'm not sure why, it was a game changer when i first started playing. Maybe the people at my store started catching on, and have decided to kill it when they see it. It just hasnt been good enough to keep in my deck as of late.

I just had the same idea today as I saw the Rubblebelt Raiders ;)but I have problems to find the right cards... because there are so many G/W/R cards that would fit in .... deck:guardians-of-asgaard-gatecrash-naya-humans-help really need some help...

even if you haven't your deck added yet I'll give you +1 just for the idea ;)

Without a doubt, +1 from me.

What do you think about Clan Defiance when it comes out?

Vos_Is_Boss says... #7

SOOOO excited. Although... it may or may not be more for Jund control/midrange.

I could edit this deck, make it a little more midrange, add some Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip and keep Zealous Conscripts in the mainboard. Then maybe, when im not swinging for lethal every turn, i can throw the super clan bomb?

I cant say for sure yet... still SOOOOO much gatecrash to come out. I'm vibrating with excitement... 12930890 deck ideas are running through my head, but this is the one i want to build. Naya Humans-ish

Hellrider is better than Rubblebelt Raiders . rubble might be better if it had haste and trample but with decks that can have tokens for days rubblebelt has a chance of just never getting in. i would suggest removing Thatcher Revolt for Hellrider i know it goes out of tribal but it is such a good game ender.

I just updated my deck to something like a mid range version of your's deck:guardians-of-asgaard-gatecrash-naya-humans ... also I just saw the new Spioler "Frontline Medic" and I think it will work really nice in many decks! I have really got problems to get space in my deck and now many more nice cards appear :D

I have play tested against your deck a little bit, and a card I am a little indifferent about is Rubblebelt Raiders . I think with the way this deck is created, that by the time you have the four mana to play the card you could play more effective cards like Thatcher Revolt or Boros Charm to finish off the game or put your opponent in a very very deep hole. I think a card that may be more effective for the them is Frontline Medic . However, I do realize that you really want this card to work in your deck so I am interested in hearing how you would approach playing this card. Other than that, everything looks good. I will probably be making this deck for myself once Gatecrash is release because I really like it. The Boros Charm is such an insane card!

Frontline Medic is definitely a card to consider. I'm really excited about it. However, i really want Rubblebelt Raiders to work. It sits comfortably in the 4 drop, usually can swing in with haste because of Lightning Mauler s.

Usually at that point... its Boros Elite , Champion of the Parish , Lightning Mauler , Silverblade Paladin , and/or tokens attacking. That's a lot of counters, and a lot of threatening damage. They have to stop the now 6/6, or, the double strike Champion of the Parish who is also a 6/6 ... with Rancor . heh. Lots of damage fast is my goal, and i think i can dish out beast beatings with this Rubblebelt Raiders .

I forgot about the Lightning Mauler and Rubblebelt Raiders combo. That was definitely something that did not come up very often when I was play testing. If you did have one out waiting for it I agree that Rubblebelt Raiders can be a problem to deal with. It will be interesting to see how it works out when you can finally play the deck after the release.

Yeah... We'll see how much i stick to my own deck... or how hard Obzedat, Ghost Council calls me...

Also... just looked at the spoilers...

GLARING SPOTLIGHT. WTF.

January 15, 2013 5:09 p.m.

PTsmitty says... #17

Well, just looked at Glaring Spotlight and that will be a sideboard card for pretty much any deck out there......especially since the Geist-Enchantment deck is very popular. As for Obzedat, Ghost Council , I thought that card would make a pretty wicked combo with a deck that likes to bounce creatures a lot. That with card:Conjurer's Closet would just be ridiculous!

Vos_Is_Boss says... #18

Well... he just wont die! he avoids all sorcery speed removal, it could be dirty. If you combine it with Restoration Angel or even Cloudshift ... he can avoid single target instant speed removal... he is a good guild leader, because his potential is nuts.

definitely go with card:Aurelia's Fury over Clan Defiance , and you should seriously consider Legion Loyalist (http://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-spoiler/legion-loyalist/).

I know people like Mayor of Avabruck  Flip alot in the naya humans, but I found more success with Hamlet Captain I understand the power of mayor, but hamlet is on curve and does the lord buff on attack, which seems just as good. Just suggesting but both are great. Also you might want to consider Burning-Tree Emissary , she helps you drop more than one creature on turn two to get the damage out there.

January 17, 2013 12:58 a.m.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #21

With all the gatecrash cards, i'm probably going to be doing MOST of my playtesting when i have them in my possession, and use them in tournament settings. I could try Hamlet Captain right now, however, i like mayor for the reason that he can transform, and generate more creatures himself. He rarely transforms, until i start activating Gavony Township , but ideally, i wont have to even do that to win.

I'm still not certain how reliable an 'X' spell will be in a fast paced deck like this. I dont think i'd be paying more than 3 for X in any scenario. Stopping 3 blockers would be very nice though, but would i rather play something else at that point? Like a Zealous Conscripts ? or a Lightning Mauler with another creature, like Silverblade Paladin ? I cant say yet, and i wont be able to comfortable say anything until i have the actual cards in tournament setting.

Trmiller1326 says... #22

I see you saw the Spark Trooper too!

I'm wondering if it should be a sideboard card for game two after looking at the card for a while. . It has a lot of pizzazz for sure, but the 1 toughness will cost the card in the long run. It will die fast against any red deck ala Searing Spear , etc. Same with Black Golgari Charm , not to mention any type of blue counter. I think players will be prepared for this card, and even if you get it the board, it might not cause the damage people think it will.

But then again..12 damage on turn 4....

January 17, 2013 9:33 a.m.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #23

Its, like many cards, one that MUST be dealt with the turn you play it. That threat alone makes it almost a must play. Its only one card in your personal arsenal. However... if your opponent doesn't save the kill for it (also... within my deck, i can drop a Cavern of Souls and name "soldier" instead of human and it wont hinder me that much) its probably going to lose them the game.

Cards that have to be dealt with ASAP are cards that need to be played.

Hi there, your deck looks like awful lot of BOREDOM, playing the same spells all the time round and round everytime with the same approach and goal. I recommend you to try Singleton or EDH format, with diversity comes much more to explore, to play and more fun.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #25

I don't know who you are, or give a damn. But your comment is totally uncalled for and rude. This is the format I like, this is the deck style i have fun with and I am happy every single time i play it. Even when i lose.

So would you kindly take your opinion and feed it to your own sense of reality. I will not compute it.
