Based somewhat off a Standard list by Legenvd on youtube, I enjoyed the overall design of the deck, but I wanted to try porting it over to see how Pioneer tech could improve it. What I ended up with was another Humans deck, since this list really wants good ETB creatures and, well, many of the best are all Humans, so I figured I might as well lean into it and toss in Thalia's Lieutenant.
The general idea is to leverage Extraction Specialist and Serra Paragon to get continuous value out of our already high-value low-cost creatures, grinding out the opponent until the path is paved for the team to swing in and close out the game. Our key players in this regard are going to be Charming Prince, Tenacious Underdog, Morbid Opportunist, and of course the Lieutenant.
Removal in this deck is being handled primarily by Rite of Oblivion, since sacrificing individual creatures is typically neutral to positive for us. However, there are 3 other important cards to remember: Brutal Cathar
playing the role of Worse (But Repeatable) O-Ring With Legs, and our graveyard hate being handled by Graveyard Trespasser
and the Hive of the Eye Tyrant hiding out in the mana base.
Liliana of the Veil is doing most of the support heavy lifting here as a very strong all-rounder walker, but Selfless Spirit absolutely pays for itself when it comes to keeping your board presence intact.
The sideboard contains a couple extra copies of Cathar and Trespasser of course, as well as a couple Night Clubbers for token spam and Vanquish the Horde for boards too big for you to meaningfully challenge. Cathar Commando will help out against artifacts and enchantments, and finally Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Damping Sphere keep spellslingers and voltron decks tamped down.
Overall I think this is actually quite a solid list for Pioneer, though suggestions are always appreciated.
