Thanks for suggesting Nnoir!

Never been a fan of Experiment One. I think there are far better evolve creatures out there. Avatar of the Resolute works far better in heroic decks.

This seems like a really fun deck, and I actually really want to try using this.

Have you considered adding Sage of Hours?

That, along with Hardened Scales, could potentially give you an infinite number of turns.

Also, instead of Lorescale Coatl, you might consider Chasm Skulker, seeing as it adds tokens into the mix. Especially if you took out some of the other hydras (seeing as you wouldn't really need the counter doubling because you can generate infinite +1/+1 counters with Hardened Scales ), you could add other hydras like Hooded Hydra and then use the Scourge of Skola Vale to pop them, getting an infinite number of 1/1 serpent tokens or 1/1 islandwalk tokens.

Of course, that is all more or less redundant, considering you will never need anything if you give Sage of Hours counters and gain more turns than you will ever need. But still, some fun things you can do. Especially because, with the Scourge you don't actually lose any counters when you use him.

Sirasksalot, had couple of Chasm Skulker, took them out because other creatures seemed to work better. Also, adding all those hydras would take so much out of this deck that I would rather make another deck around them than try to change this deck so much. I also had Sage of Hours, but after adding Hardened Scales it would make more sense.

Did you add those card names some different way because they don't show spoilers like normally they would?

Just add ((card name)) where ( and ) are replaced with [ and ]

All legitimate points, really. I am curious to know, though, how the deck performs. Have you gotten to try it?

Also, I apologize about the links. It was my mistake.

Unfortunately I have not had a proper chance to test this deck after I made the major upgrades. I actually bought 4 Hardened Scales. I might have make room for Sage of Hours now too :)

Having started MtG as a Simic Initiate I upvoted this. I've been fiddling with Temur thanks to the Khans block but I've always liked plain Simic more.

Llanowar Reborn or Oran-Rief, the Vastwood can help add counters.

Nice deck. Why don't I see a vorel in here? I'm wondering how this deck goes against aggro or control.

Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Hardened Scales +any +1/+1 counter goes infinite, right? does moving a counter from one creature to another counts as placing a counter on a creature?

Aefinn says... #12

Ixidron, that's why I have 4x Hardened Scales on maybeboard. Will be adding the mto the deck when I get hands on those cards. And yes, it counts.

You should add an unblockable creature, like Invisible Stalker to load up with +1/+1 counters and swing for lethal damage.

MentalObesity says... #14

BasilKarlo Elusive krasis might be a better option. Maybe no hexproof, but it can trigger evolve and gets evolved by nearly anything.

BasilKarlo says... #15

MentalObesity The evolve trigger on Elusive Krasis would really be irrelevant if you're looking for a big unblockable beater since you're dropping him mid- to late-game. And hexproof would be useful to protect all of your counters. You can dump them all onto one Invisible Stalker and your opponent can't destroy him, keeping all of your counters safe while also delivering the same amount of damage or more than Elusive Krasis.

MentalObesity says... #16

BasilKarloOkay, I see. I thought there were much more evolve triggers in this deck. Yes, Invisible Stalker is the better choice. I'm not sure if the unblockable is really necessary mainly because there is a lot of ramp and overwhelmingly large creatures in this deck.

I personally think that something needs to change. I either need something with trample, flying or untouchable. Without those there is nothing much I can do against swarm of little blockers. I'll most likely take a better look at this deck the next weekend.

LuutamoCrowned Ceratok? Sapphire Drake? I understand these are high on the curve. You could go with Invisible Stalker as suggested above, or Elusive Krasis if you want a blocker that can evolve. I don't really much change is needed. This deck has insane advantage over most opponents. Once you have some of your fatties out, it's game.Consider Chasm Skulker for your maybeboard. It's a lot better than the Lorescale Coatl you have in maybeboard.

Take a gander at Simic Manipulator. I think it'd make a fine addition to the deck, even as a sideboard.

kengiczar says... #20

What's that? A draw spell that increases your +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters, but only the ones you want it to? Why yes, it's Tezzeret's Gambit.

Xenofilth says... #21

If you focused on putting counters on sage, you could have enough mana to play some heavy hitters by the third turn if you draw the right cards. Increasing draw power isnt bad either. There are cards that everytime you draw they get +1/+1. So imagine that combo: Say Lorescale Coatl + Drawing a shit ton of cards as fast as possible + Bioshift to Mage. Wow that would be a lot of mana to get a painful creature on turn three.

AwesomeName even though it fits the theme, there isn't room for cards like that. I think that would fit heroic decks better anyway.

I would suggest Gilder Bairn in the place of Vorel of the Hull Clade: it can be used with Paradise Mantle for doubling counters for only two manas!

June 23, 2015 9:45 a.m.

Aefinn says... #25

gioppasup, I have though that also but decided to go with Vorel for few reasons: Vorel works by itself, Gilder Bairn basically needs Mantle to work... and I need my mantle for Leech Bonder already, making it extra hard to have second one for Gilder. Also, Lightning Bolt can take Gilder out.
