n0bunga, it stops Engine and Teferi (2 or 3 decks tops) and Ad Naus. Storm can storm off without Ad Naus and remove Teeg before winning. I play good storm ;) I don't play bad cards like FoW and Gush

I've lowkey always wanted to run Gaddock Teeg with Brisela, Voice of Nightmares in the same deck to potentially shut off all spells except for creature spells with CMC four or greater because that sort of jank is what I live for. Perhaps I'll build a Captain Sisay deck around this concept one day to pull out my Brisela pieces and Teeg. Probably not for competitive play, but I love the idea of shutting down a blue player at the table completely. Although a mana heavy creature with a removal tag on it would shut down that jank lock. Like Duplicant for example, and that card is unaffected by Iona, Shield of Emeria, but I digress. I think Teeg is quite an oppressive commander and to be able to shut down a number of cards in the meta from the command zone for 2 mana is nothing to brush off. I've had a lot of success with him in the past, but drifted into splashing black to have Anafenza, the Foremost at the helm because it's practically the same deck, but with more tutors and it was sort of a meta call in a sense because graveyard decks are rampant in my playgroup.

DangoDaikazoku oh Man, Brisela Teeg sounds hilarious. Is there a way to turn off noncreatures 4+? That would be jokes. Perhaps Torpor Orb/ the other 2 white creatures with similar abilities would help against a bunch of the larger removal creatures like duplicant? They arent fetchable with Sissay though so maybe not, idk, just a thought.

Also, I appreciate what you said earlier. I'm down with starting fresh. Moving forward I think I will try to refrain from making anything that resembles a claim on tier placenent and instead just mention why I personally like/dislike cards just using my own personal experience. Hopefully I will sound less conceited that way.

I also like Teeg and think he shuts down quite a bit. I personally like him more than Ana but thats just my opinion. Im not saying he's objectively better. I think you have the right idea putting Sissay in the zone and just fetching for him though, just in case you happen to be playing in a very creature heavy pod.

n0bunga half meme, I play Yidris storm. And I didnt say "storm can storm off" I said it doesn't need Naus to do it and it can remove Teeg before casting Fishbowl

Soren841 says... #5

But it won't be able to stop me because Teeg isn't in blue

Dango says... #6

What can stop you from storming off is a Ethersworn Canonist or Rule of Law hitting the board, but I suppose the dies to Chain of Vapor factor is too OP apparently and my logic is moot lol.

SynergyBuild did you just suggest moving Yargle, Glutton of Urborg from Casual to Maximum Power on this list? I think that's something we can all agree on!

SynergyBuild says... #11

DangoDaikazoku Well, it, Scornful Egotist, and Storm Crow are actually too good for this list, so I think it is smart to leave them off. Calling them 'Commanders' or limiting them to the 'Command Zone' is an insult, and I would never insult them.

Yah, but, if you were a madman and wanted to rate them, Tier 0, Godly Power is the right place.

Dango says... #12

That's fair. My five color Yargle flavor text tribal EDH deck is by far outclassing any of the decks listed in Maximum Power and Competitive. A Storm Crow hitting the board hard counters the entire metagame really.

n0bunga Drop the island, play an Ancient Tomb, and then a Blacker Lotus, you get 3 Storm Crows.

Sub 2 of the Storm Crows and you can drop Scornful Egotist as a morph and flip it, cheating mana.

BTW, Storm Crow has poisonous 0 too think of that one.

Storm Crow printed itself, WotC printed Scornful Egotist to combat this, but accidentally made then the same color, so both were used.

WotC was Mind Controlled by Scornful Egotist after he joined Storm Crow to forget about this, but then while Storm Crow and Scornful Egotist were making out, the Egotist left its hold of WotC for a bit, in which they made Yargle, Glutton of Urborg, but forgot that while they were mind controlled, Scornful Egotist had already made them print the best mana-fixing land every made to this day, School of the Unseen, which hid itself from WotC (hence the unseen).

This allowed you to play all three, making a 3-way that has created the most broken trio to this day, which now controls the multiverse.

Them: Infinity was the most awaited crossover ever.

Me: Storm Crow, Yargle, Glutton of Urborg, and Scornful Egotist... IN ONE DECK

There's no deck for Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker. I think it belongs in mid-power.

December 6, 2018 12:28 p.m.

Dango says... #16

Ishai belongs in a tier above Maximum Power along with Yargle imo.

Okay the memes are getting out of hand although they're greatly appreciated for this change of pace. So on a serious note I think we all can agree Ishai should be lower. Mid Power is something I can agree on, but I don't know enough about Partner commanders to make that conclusion because maybe the colors alone could push it into High Power territory when paired with something like Vial Smasher. But like I said, I haven't ever used Partners so I can't say for certain. It just doesn't seem to me that Ishai has that powerful of an ability to compliment another.

But for real though can we just talk about Storm Crow's hidden ability to search your library to find all five pieces of Exodia, the Forbidden One and put them into your hand, and then reveal them to win the game? That tech is truly what makes Storm Crow so powerful. Your opponent might as well instantly concede when they see you tap two lands or crack your Blacker Lotus because Storm Crow is the meta killer we've always needed. Unfortunately there was a house rule put into place in my playgroup and our lord and savior was banned because it was considered too oppressive of a card.

It unbanned itself recently.

chaosumbreon87 I'll raise you with a Gilded Drake on my Storm Crow you took from me and wait for a response.

SynergyBuild says... #23

You know that Storm Crow can't be taken right? It clearly reads:

"Can't be targeted on the stack by grubby little hands, chaosumbreon87, you with your stupid little Perplexing Chimera."

in the reminder text, didn't you read it?

I couldn't help but notice Kaho, Minamo Historian is placed in high power, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a Kaho deck that has been considerably optimized for competitive play? I am really intrigued by her, I assume the strategy could be around an infinite turns combo since her ability can be abused with Paradox Engine and Dramatic Reversal with a bunch of rocks on the field. But honestly she's basically a better Isochron Scepter on a 2/2 body and I think she could storm off with Aetherflux Reservoir and Sol Ring in play and Dramatic Reversal exiled with her ability to generate an infinite storm count. The rest of the deck could honestly be some hard control, but needless to say I am very interested and shocked I've never seen her before. The inner blue mage in me is so fascinated by her.

SynergyBuild says... #25

A no-protection 2/2 that has exile your combo pieces eternally when exiled, and needs to wait a whole turn cycle is a big issue.

I mean, I could write a list for it... but it wouldn't be so great.
