This deck is based on the enjoyment I got from Dinosaur Tribal from the Ixalan block, both in paper Magic and on Arena. Very Timmy-oriented with big creatures and flashy combos, especially with Polyraptor, Ghalta, Primal Hunger and Etali, Primal Storm having big and potentially powerful effects.

Early-game focuses on ramping up quickly with full sets of Llanowar Elves and Drover of the Mighty, leading in to being able to quickly cast bigger win conditions. Raptor Hatchling can be surprisingly efficient; on its own it's a 1/1 body for 1R which is sub-par, but its Enrage summons a 3/3 trampler in its place which instead makes it highly efficient.

Forerunner of the Empire and Commune with Dinosaurs are key components to let this deck work; Forerunner being instrumental in building a Polyraptor army (especially when equipped with Shield of the Realm) or immediately triggering any Enrage effects, and Commune letting you dig in to the top five cards of your deck for either a dinosaur or an extra land. Commune with Dinosaurs isn't limited to picking a basic land either, so you can choose Sheltered Thicket or Cinder Glade with it as well. Ranging Raptors also lets you get lands out of the deck and on to the battlefield, but is a little bit slower.

Ripjaw Raptor is great card draw in this deck - it's a 4/5 body on a CMC4 creature so it passes the vanilla test, and its Enrage trigger will almost always draw you at least one card - and with Forerunner on the field, it will usually be more.

End-game the main idea is to overwhelm the opponent with an army of Polyraptors with help from Forerunner (simultaneously blowing up everything else!), or failing that some triggers from Raging Regisaur or Raging Swordtooth, or by forcing a fight with Savage Stomp. Etali, Primal Storm can cheat out whatever Forerunner puts at the top of your deck along with stealing something from the opponent's deck, and Ghalta, Primal Hunger is simply a massive 12/12 trampler that you can often get out for cheap, or even as little as two Green mana.

Sideboard;

  • Otepec Huntmaster's cost reduction actually isn't that important because of how much ramp the deck has; but if you need some extra speed, they can be included.

  • Naturalize is classic Artefact or Enchantment removal at instant speed for 1G and is very budget-friendly.

  • Carnage Tyrant can't be countered and has hexproof, making it resistant to destruction and opponents running control decks.

Maybeboard;

  • Gaea's Blessing will let you reshuffle things back in to your library to re-fetch and re-cast them later, and also has value as a hard-counter to mill if you have to deal with that in your local environment.
