PAUPER

The main idea is to use enchantment to get devotion and Gray Merchant of Asphodel to win. Why enchantment? Well, they can sit on the board, for devotion, which is our main win condition. But combine with Grim Guardian, it deals even more damage everytime you play one. Grim Guardian is also an excelent blocker versus aggro decks.

  • Chittering Rats : classic MBC (Mono Black Control) in pauper. Your opponent doesn't get new card, everytime this rat enter the battlefield. This way, you can totally destroy combo decks that need their pieces. Also, it gives 2 for the devotion.

  • Contaminated Ground : Messing with the mana of your opponent is mean and people don't like that... that's exactly why you do it! Even if the opponent plays black, it will damages them, getting you closer to the victory.

  • Dead Weight, Seal of Doom and Stab Wound : Can be used to kill an opponent creatures. They are the "removal" spells of the deck. They also provide to have higher devotion. Stab Wound can also deals damage every turn. Always usefull, combine with Contaminated Ground. You can dig their life little by little before playing Gray Merchant of Asphodel.

  • Pestilence : Auto include. 2x, can deal with token decks and deals additionnal damage to the opponent.

Yes, resurrection. With Shade's Form and Undying Evil you can save your creatures with ETB effect and retrigger them. The opponent attack you? Oh well, block, play Undying Evil and make them regret their decision. Shade's Form is more like a shield. You can attack, buff your creature and let them deal with it. If they kill it, oh wait.. welcome back!

Another way to tell your opponent to not attack you or target your creatures is to play Chime of Night. My creature die? Your's too. Oh, mine will comeback! That's great!

Mortuary Mire can bring back creatures from the graveyard to your hand. Not resurrection, but you can play it again, so it's the same.

For draw : Sign in Blood

Not sure about Dark Ritual. I feel like it would be amazing to play turn 1 Chittering Rats or Gray Merchant of Asphodel earlier, but I feel like it can be a dead card. Would be nice to have some feedback on this.

The sideboard here could provoque big change in the deck. After the first game, your opponent will probably play enchantment hate cards. That's why you want to play less enchantment and more removal. Duress (if they got spells) turn one, for a peak of their hand. Can take out Naturalize or anything alike. Some removal like Disfigure, Echoing Decay, Geth's Verdict and Victim of Night. Chose what fits the most for your match. Also, Nihil Spellbomb for graveyard hate.

I think it's an interresting variant of MBC in pauper. Still control, but not the same way. Maybe not as efficient, but with a big surprise effect. Not tested yet, but I would love to do it soon! I think this has potential.

(Not include : Oubliette. Why? I play pauper cause I don't have much money... I won't play a 25$ cards in a deck that would otherwise cost me less than 15$)
