After seeing a post online about the synergy between Mnemonic Wall and Fated Infatuation, I was ecstatic to open Infatuation at a draft last night. I moved into green fairly early, which was a good move, since the table had one or two other green players, and the people on my sides were UB and RW. Rounds are as follows.

Round 1 - Against RW Aggro

This was against my friend, sitting to the left of the RW player on my left. He had a fast hand and beat me early while I was stuck on land drops. Game two is back and forth, but I start to stabilize with runners off the top. We're both at 5 life when he Acolyte's Reward for 5 to the face. Luckily, he goes on to win the draft without dropping a game, giving me a chance to place. He's also a nice kid and talented magic player, so there's that.

0-2 in games, 0-1 in rounds.

Round 2 - Against UB Mill

This was the player to my right. He opened a Phenax, God of Deception and went the full mill route. Game one I stabilized early by making him chump or trade, then just smoothed my draws for the rest of the game with Fated Infatuation targeting Mnemonic Wall. Game two was faster, with me voltroning up the Agent of Horizons and then playing fatties constantly. He never drew Phenax or removal. Fun to play against, and I'm pretty sure he took game three as well.

2-2 in games, 1-1 in rounds.

Round 3 (Final) - Agains RG Beats

I've played against this man before, and respect him highly. He sat across the table from me, so I went into this match blind. Game one wasn't memorable, it was a typical game of magic where he was the beat down early, but the roles switched and soon the game was over. Game two I got stuck on lands again, but scryed my way out of it. However, after flooding out and using all my creatures, he beat in for a quick win.

Game three is back and forth trading blows. He's used the two removal spells I've seen in his deck and around the table, and we both have fatties out, I have a 6/3 Agent ( Nyxborn Wolf bestowed onto it) and a Leafcrown Dryad used for blocking. He has a Nemesis of Mortals and either a bestowed-upon Fanatic of Xenagos or big fatty. I was praying for a Stratus Walk , but end up not getting it, and just attacking in for 6 unblockable and praying he doesn't have a removal spell. He goes and taps out and casts... Shredding Winds . He extends his hand and I take the match.

4-3 in games, 2-1 in rounds.

My winnings were 3x Born of the Gods packs (Notable pulls are Ephara, God of the Polis, Nessian Wilds Ravager and Fated Intervention) and the promo for March, Banisher Priest.

This deck was amazingly fun to pilot, and I found that Fated Infatuation is surprisingly good, though in hindsight, I would go 10 islands 7 forests. I also pulled a Purphoros, God of the Forge and Fleecemane Lion , so I can't be too mad, and all the people I drafted with were awesome. Also, shoutout to Comics and More in King of Prussia Mall, PA. Awesome store, awesome people there.

Until next time,Matt
