May i suggest x3 Hornet Nest also (imagine to target it to fight with a big creature, at his turn, next turn you attack with 3?/4?/5? maybe 6 flying deathtouch 1/1 tokens, just to keep your defence up). Also drop in x3 hmmm maybe x2 Mwonvuli Beast Tracker just to be sure you ll have him in your hand, You already have the mana ramp with Courser of Kruphix (who needs to be x3) and put aside Typhoid Rats and Ulvenwald Tracker for a x4 Hunt the hunter. He is way too fragile to stay in battlefield after your first surprise game

Your idea is brilliant by the way. You could turn this to a black/white deck also but with instants --> all creatures able to block this creature do so.

Thanks for those suggestions. I admit that Typhoid Rats is pretty bad, but I want early board presence, and Swarmyard lets it hold more value once it's online. I like Hornet Nest. I'll fiddle around with it. The problem with Hunt the Hunter is that Phyrexian Obliterator is very black, which won't work here. I like Mwonvuli Beast Tracker as well, but it's easy to get hellbent active in this deck which makes Infernal Tutor a Demonic Tutor.

...if you want early presence then you might want to consider Will-o'-the-Wisp which can block flying ones also

It does, but it also won't deter an attack and it can't kill anything, so it doesn't fit this build. Typhoid Rats on the other hand, will buy more time given its deathtouch (first strike or evasion excluded), is more likely to attract removal, and later if left around can be quite good as a reusable sniper with Setessan Tactics or Ulvenwald Tracker and Swarmyard.

I've been play testing this against my modern G/W Hexproof aura deck Slippery Slappers and it is a hard match up to manage. Great deck. Only suggestion I'd have is move Thoughtseize and/or Inquisition of Kozilek from SB to MB and drop the Typhoid Rats. The rats are weak and the hand disruption will buy you time better than they can. This also loosens up your mana base as the colorless Swarmyard can be replaced with something more useful to all the B/G heavy casting cost spells you have.

Thanks MoJoMiXuP! Thanks for that suggestion. I also have a hexproof aura deck but I haven't played against it yet. So far, I haven't had any issues casting spells but valid point. More disruption the better.

How come Back to Nature is main board? Golgari Charm would probably be more useful in it's place.

I'm not sold on Ulvenwald Tracker.

DMPv01 says... #9

Yep. Back to Nature is a sideboard card. I've been fiddling with the list.

Any suggestions in place of Ulvenwald Tracker? I'm experimenting with it. I don't have any goyfs (yet) or I'd stick them in and call it a day.

Id cut them for some of the stuff you already have on you SB.

Setessan Tactics, Thoughtseize, Maelstrom Pulse, or even the Spellskite.

I'll test it out. Thanks

Why the mainboard Watery Grave?

Spellskite activation if I side it in. Black sources are more crucial for being able to cast an Obliterator when I want to.

@APPLE01DOJ I got some solid testing in last night with 3x Ulvenwald Tracker main deck and it looks promising. I played mostly against Jund, but some Abzan midrange, mono black, and Temur midrange. I was able to pull out every game except one and I believe it was due to mana flood. No tests yet against control, combo, or aggro. I must say, shrinking a goyf to 4/5 with Ooze, then making it fight Obliterator is immensely satisfying. Also, Vraska the Unseen's ultimate is a real threat (not something I would expect to pull off) since it's easier to keep my opponent's board semi clear. 2 games I was able to control the board with a tracker and Liliana and just tick up Vraska. The presence of a tracker, if they can't remove it, was keeping my opponents from playing creatures at all. Game 2+ take out the trackers since they become huge targets and they won't stay, but game 1 they do some work. May bump up Setessan Tactics to 2 in the sideboard. Gonna keep experimenting.

During Return to Ravnica/M14 Standard I ran a deck with Kalonian Hydra and Vraska the Unseen. I loved that deck but anyway both cards really loved Rogue's Passage. Vraska the Unseen is like a reoccurring Maelstrom Pulse. Such a fun card and her protection is actually decent.

The Maelstrom Pulse ability is why I included her here. I've been wanting to use the card for a while but have had trouble finding a place for it. Nice combo with Rogue's Passage.

My silly casual green stompy deck uses Primordial Hydra in a similar way with Rogue's Passage and uses Primeval Titan to help fetch it.

yknow, Golgari Charm is a pretty good choice, not the least of which reasons is because it stops the twin combo from working.

DMPv01 says... #23

That is correct, thanks. I never see Twin in my local meta or I'd have more in the list. Just a solid card all around.

have you considered Ob Nixilis Reignited over vraska? his +1 seems like it would be far more relevant here
