First playtest went really well (3 for 5). Some thoughts on winners/losers from playtest.

Greatly appreciated midrange moves. Nearly finished a player off with Windfall (which would have been glorious) but didn't have the 3 mana. Don't keep a hand just because it has Curiosity in it. Managed a victory …

Lost to a no-creature Bant Approach of the Second Sun deck match one due to me being greedy. I won game one, no issues. Game two I spent four mana activating my Wandering Fumarole to protect my Jace, Unraveler of Secrets who was at 8 instead of letting him take …

Round 1

Win in 2 against UR Aetherflux Reservoir Combo

Wasn't really sure what this guy was doing at first. Deck had Etherium Sculptors and Chief of the Foundry, and was getting free Ichor Wellsprings off of that. Casting an Aetherflux Reservoir late game one tipped me off. Better threat …

Round 1

Win in 2 against Jund.

Game 1 got off to a rocky start, after he Abrupt Decayed one of my early enchantments, and then got a turn 3 Liliana of the Veil. A few topdecks later (namely, another creature and a fetchland for Dryad Arbor), I was able …

There were 48 people here for FNM, so it lasted six rounds. I wanted to die.

Round 1

Win in 3 against GW Turbofog.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Turbofog. It was my very first modern deck, and i love it. Game 1, he runs out …

Round 1

Loss in 3 against Burn.

Game 1, he has the nuts, there's nothing I can do. Game 2, I have a pretty great keep that happens to have a Leyline of Sanctity and some lifelink in it, so I run away with it. Game 3, he has a …

3-0-2 into top 8. Not bad for the deck's second time played on paper.

Round 1: Abzan aristocrats 2-1

Game 1 got rallied after he stalled with tokens from Abzan Ascendancy.

Games 2 and 3, was able to out value them with bloodsoaked champion and the Phoenix.

Round 2: …

This deck just keeps getting better as I learn how to play vs each match up and make my slight tweaks.

Round 1 2-0 vs UB (new player with a deck that was mostly standard and who hadn't spent much time or money preparing for a modern matchup)

not much …
