I've been playing magic since late October 2013, just before Born of the Gods came out. I was introduced to it by some friends I made in college.

How I got starrted

my friends were playing a game and when I asked about it, I was handed a caual mono green elf deck to try. After that, I bought a bulk box of cards to try building my own deck and took on green as my color of choice and black as my hated color (those cards all look so gruesome and creepy, not to mention they often go against my playstyle of growing my field state over reducing my opponent's.)

my playstyle

I enjoy playing midrange, but will move into aggro territory when necessary as I hate people constantly throwing removal cards at my board (see RUG engine (FNM 2nd place). I also have a tendency to find good ways to use under played cards, turning them into win conditions such as Archetype of Imagination in my kiora found a hydra deck. Another aspect of my playstyle, is my tendency to have explosive fields, I would rather spend a few turns to set up resources and tap out each turn than to leave mana unused. This also allows me to dump my deck onto the field as I favor permanents over instants and sorceries. The winner is the one with the overwhelming field advantage right?

competitive

I jumped into the competitive scene rather quickly as my more experienced friends started going on a regular basis. This along with playing almost constantly during my free time made me begin to develop skills rather quickly and build the decks you see today. I believe my works are entirely my doing, as I tend to reference other people's builds after deck creation for additional ideas. My exception would be my 23-09-14-modern-green-devotion deck which I referenced before hand in order to see what cards were typically used in modern (hard to know the good stuff when you've only played since Theros)
