Deck Complete...For the Time Being at Least
Spootyone, 9 years ago
Hello all! My flavor Karametra EDH deck is finally constructed and will be showcased on the next episode of my podcast "The Top Deck", which will be recorded this evening and posted either tonight or tomorrow morning. Enjoy!

It's time to say goodbye
echo9999, 9 years ago
It was fun, but after poor performances and an inability to pace up to the metagame, this deck was officially retired on 2/27/2016. Keep an eye out for new standard decks, however, as I will likely either play elves, eldrazi, or just GW scales. I wanted to take a moment to thank everybody for their continued support and help on the deck, and bringing it to a pretty solid build for quite a bit. Thanks for everything!!! You guys rule!!! ~Echo
PLEASE SUGGEST CUTS ALONG WITH YOUR ADDITIONS
BaernishedHaert, 9 years ago
NOTE TO ALL COMMENTERS: I have received several very helpful suggestions already, and that's great! However, if I could be so bold, I'd like to ask you to also suggest what card you would replace in the deck. Even if I don't end up doing what you say explicitly, it helps me think about cards that I could at least replace with something and your reasoning for why those cards should leave the deck are VERY helpful! I would greatly appreciate it!

Some great suggestions in this batch, and signs of growing interest in the deck and its mechanics. It was getting a little crowded down in the comments so I'm just resetting the discussion now.

Reality Smasher
Buildenpanda, 9 years ago
At FNM last night I test played the card reality smasher to see if it was better than endless one and it was so much better. It shut down Aggro decks and control decks and it was able to block siege rhino agains Abzan. So I feel like adding that card really help the deck instead of dispel and two endless ones.
Jaceuuu

Predict -> Jace I was finally able to get a foil Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. The deck has been looking to run this card for quite a while, but I was unwilling to trade for or buy a non foil copy of it. Jace's primary strengths lie in line with what the deck is trying to do. He filters cards, generates card quality and some card advantage. Predict however is a card I'm not often happy to draw. It enables a very early doomsday pile, which doesn't work without it. However outside of that 1 pile it is often a very lackluster card which I will not miss.
3-1: Epic Games

I lost at the final table, but most of my games were incredibly fun.
-
2-0 Atarka Red. Not much to say here: he boosted a creature twice while I had 4 mana open.
-
2-0 Jeskai Black. Still the same guy. First game, he had me at 1 and him at 20, yet I managed to come back thanks to Shambling Vent, Wingmate Roc and Sorin, Solemn Visitor. Game 2 was much easier after I sided out my creatures (except Seeker of the Way) for Duress, Dispel and Painful Truths.
-
2-1 against Abzan-Blue. Still don't know why he splashes blue. Gideon, Ally of Zendikar won me game 1. Game 2, I had a slow hand and over-abundance of black sources, which meant no play until turn 4 while his Warden of the First Tree beat me to death. Game 3 was extremely close, but a Secure the Wastes into a Gideon, Ally of Zendikar Emblem into a Secure the Wastes got me there. He was 1 damage from killing me thanks to a unblockable, 8 power Den Protector.
-
0-2 against Mardu-Green control. A veteran player coming back to standard. Game one lasted forever: we both flooded and simply kept traded life by Shambling Vent. He killed my planeswalkers, I killed his Siege Rhinos and Goblin Dark-Dwellers. He eventually got there. Game two went badly for me: I had a slow hand and he Duressed and Transgress the Mind it to remove my threats. I managed to Infinite Obliteration his Siege Rhinos AND his Goblin Dark-Dwellers, but when Chandra, Flamecaller came down I simply had no answer.

Just Hanging Back.

So after a few weeks of running this deck. There are two simple truths I have found out. 1. The deck is good against agro. 2. The deck is bad against control and mid range combo. The 3 head banging match up are 4 color abzan, jeski black, and oops all turns. So I am now running a more stock red black dragons list. I will post it soon.
