Rotation Time

It is once again time for rotation. I did not get to play with this deck as much as I wish that I could have, but at least I was able to X-0 my last few FNMs with it. Kaladesh looks really sweet, and I have not been this excited for a rotation since Khans was coming in. I really hope that this next standard format is going to be another Khans/Theros.

Changes:

Subbed Dawntreader Elk for Sakura Tribe Elder - Needed Sakura in another deck

Replaced:

Explorer's Scope --> Krosan Wayfarer - Scope relied too much on luck

Walking Atlas --> Skyshroud Ranger - Cost 1 less

Sylvan Scrying --> Lay of the Land - Cost 1 less and the deck is mostly basic lands

Inclusions

In: Insidious Will Out: Holy Mantle

Insidious Will is good for this build as it has multiple functions: it can counter or copy instant/sorcery spells which trigger extra turns/combats. Holy Mantle is okay but then since I cannot cast this right away upon exile so it it might be better with instants.

In: Dovin Baan Out: Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker

Dovin Baan is obviously good. He can protect himself, gives you card advantage but most fun of all, give your opponents a Static Orb.


To Playtest (Possible Inclusions)

Saheeli Rai - Saheeli Rai is powerful and it is always to have scrying every turn.

Spirebluff Canal, Inspiring Vantage - fast lands, fast lands. Who doesn't want them?

Aether Hub - helps with casting Narset.

Authority of the Consuls - this could be good as it is able to slow down your opponents, especially against those with weenies like Goblins or strong token theme.

Planar Bridge - nice to use this to bring out any Planeswalkers from library. But would this be too costly?


Honourable Mentions

Metallurgic Summonings - interesting and quite a fun card in creating creature tokens. With Narset casting the spells for you, you won't have to worry about high casting cost instants/sorceries. Will move this to the fun build version.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance - she is really good but I feel that she may not do enough for this deck. Plus, I think Chandra, the Firebrand is more suitable with copying instant/sorcery. Sticking with my 1 Planewalker per type/character rule.

Confiscation Coup - basically a Control Magic but with with restrictions. If your deck does not play Energy counters, then you can only gain control of something with 4CC or less.

Dynavolt Tower - would be good in a heavy instant/sorcery theme build.

Disallow - very strong counterspell but probably not for this build.

Moved 2x Padeem, Consul of Innovation to the sideboard. I didn't feel as if this guy was doing enough in this deck. I put in 2x Diabolic Tutor in his place. I feel if this change will get the combo going faster because we can tutor for the pieces we need. This also caused me to add some lands that tap for . This actually helps the deck more because it becomes easier to pay for the cost of Metalspinner's Puzzleknot's ability.
