I played my deck for the first time and - - I hate it.

Deck Help forum

Trying to build a new Jund deck based around The Gitrog Monster and Tireless Tracker. I finally got everything together and played it, but its not working the way I want and I'm just so incredibly frustrated. If anyone could just take a look at it and help me out, I put a more detailed breakdown of issues in the description.

Deck is here: Landscaping.

I'd start by determining if you want it to be modern or standard. If you go Modern, cut out all the standard crap and add Crucible of Worlds, Life from the Loam, Golgari Grave-Troll and the like (look up Dredge).

If you want it to be standard, you can't add cards older than Dragons of Tarkir. You have less cards to choose from, but you can make do with lesser/cheaper cards.

You can add Drownyard Temple and sacrifice lands like Blighted Woodland or Mirrorpool.

Sylvan Advocate, Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip, Snapping Gnarlid, Den Protector, Undergrowth Champion and Deathcap Cultivator or strong creatures to add with synergy.

You could also add Molten Vortex, Seismic Assault and Magmatic Insight which go well with Gitrog's last ability. You can go more towards discard/self mill with Sinister Concoction, Tormenting Voice, Chandra, Flamecaller, Mindwrack Demon and Lightning Axe/Fiery Temper.

Birds of Paradise would speed your deck up a bit.

Thanks for suggestions. Unfortunately no matter how much I like Crucible of Worlds (possibly one of my favorite cards) it is not feasible right now due to it's cost and all my life bills. But it would work perfectly.

I will be looking into the other suggestions as well!

After much thinking I think I am going to initially go in a direction of Standard with this deck. Due to my inexperience with MTG the idea of diving straight into Modern is a little daunting. I would ideally like to turn it into a Modern deck in the long run once I'm more comfortable with everything in general, and when I have more disposable income.

Thank you so much for putting forward the idea.

I think that's a good decision. What I did myself when I started is buying boxes with friends, do some drafts/limited to get to know all cards and build up a collection. Then I used Pucatrade to trade away cards I didn't use or had temporary high value due to being used by the pro's, and acquire cards I wanted for decks. It's a fun way to gradually but still effectively building up your collection.

My friend has been playing MTG for YEARRRS and he taught me how to play and I've really gotten into it. So then we split a Shadows over Innistrad box and did a draft and thats where this Jund deck has come out of, but I might have bitten off more than I can chew.

I've never heard of Pucatrade. I'd love if you could message me with any things I should look into just to get into MTG
