Eggs in Modern - Reiterated

Deck Help forum

The idea of eggs is to sacrifice lots of cheap artifacts to Krark-Clan Ironworks, feed the mana through the chromatic cards, then cast Faith's Reward and bring them back and use there draw clauses to dig through your deck. If you can't find any recursion, your dead.

But I have an idea that will stabilize the deck - Reiterate. Here's how (remember, the stack works like LIFO):

Sac all your "eggs" to ironworks.

Use the mana to cast Faith's Reward then don't let it resolve and cast Reiterate buybacked on faith's.

Let the Reiterate and the copy of faith's resolve, then before letting the original faith's resolve, sac your artifacts (brought back by the copy) at instant speed, get the mana and cast reiterate buybacked targeting faith's. Get the copy, rinse and repeat.

Once you draw your deck, let the original faith's resolve, then keep using Conjurer's Bauble to keep looping it to your hand.

Altar of the Brood is the wincon, since it doesn't target and isn't a creature.

I now that I need play sets of faith's, reiterate, ironworks, chromatic star/sphere, Mox Opal, and at least one altar of the brood and conjurer's bauble, but what dig spells/free artifacts could I run?

Sorry, but could this be moved to modern deck help?

hmm, interesting idea! as for free artifacts, Ornithopter, Memnite, Welding Jar, and Darksteel Relic are things you can use.

Definitely would need Serum Visions and Gitaxian Probe.

Thanks CheeseBro. I'm thinking 21 lands, and here are my current ideas:

21 lands (Ghost Quarter, Glimmervoid, Darksteel Citadel)

14 main combo pieces (4 Reiterate, 4 Faith's Reward, 4 Reiterate, 1 Altar of the Brood, 1 Conjurer's Bauble)

6-7 dig spells (Serum Visions, Gitaxian Probe, Mishra's Bauble)

18-19 eggs, or 20-21 including Mishra's Bauble (playsets of the chromatics, Terrarion, 4 Mox Opal, maybe Mana Cylix and Welding Jar)

I like this idea, it seems a little more stable. However, about the win con, there are still a reasonable amount of decks that run Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

I feel like that is just the worst possible event for your deck.

Also, one thing i will say, if you do make this eggs deck, make sure you playtest it a lot so that you get used to using it. I can't tell you how annoyed i was when eggs was a thing and that people were taking ten minutes or so on a single turn. Just make sure you can pilot it well before taking it to your lgs. I feel like it should be a common courtesy to your opponents to do that. Just my opinion.

Also please note that I am not saying eggs is degenerate to the modern format, i am just saying that the games can be quite noninteractive with one player comboing off and the other just sitting there.

@ezio27

Eggs was definitely degenerative before Second Sunrise was banned. With this deck, you just keep looping, so it's hard to start out, but then you just loop the Reiterate until you get the Conjurer's Bauble loop, and win with altar.

What do you mean by "I feel like that is the worst possible event for your deck"?

The thing is, you can not deck somebody with an emrakul in their deck until you exile that emrakul

@ezio27

Then in the SB there will be a Pyrite Spellbomb as alternate wincon.

You could main one Spellbomb and one Altar for alternate win cons. You don't want to auto-lose game one to any of the eldrazis.

Yeah good idea, again, work fast trying to combo off with the eggs deck anybody, it is pretty noninteractive so be courteous to your opponent by working quickly

I currently play eggs and I can say 17 land is about right for the deck. All the eggs make it easier to find your lands and you will flood out less. Open the Vaults is really better than Reiterate since you can sac your eggs more aggressively and still get them all back. Altar of the Brood I have tried and if you run into any Emrakul, the Aeons Torn you cannot win the game. As for win cons I use 2x emrakul and 1x Banefire as they are both uncounterable.

@Matt_The_OGRE

More lands are necessary to get the combo off turn four. Open the Vaults is not better than reiterate purely because you can keep casting the reiterate over and over again, and you don't have to worry about drawing into another Faith's Reward or Open the Vaults. I will playtest Banefire though.

Open the Vaults is way better than Reiterate purely because it doesn't need Faith's Reward to be good. But if you're still in insistent on reiterate, then let us know how it does. Spoils of the Vault can easily be replaced with Tezzeret the Seeker to find your Altar of the Brood or Krark-Clan Ironworks or as an alternate win con itself.
