That's exactly what I was going to say. This deck cannot rely on getting the second land drop, a hand with 1 land and 3 dorks is perfectly fine. Also if they Lightning Bolt in response to the level up (or any other form of removal) then you just wasted your first few turns as well as some potential chrages on a Gemstone Mine. Personally I'd rather be safe than sorry, and Elvish Mystic is far safer.

I'm curious on your sideboard choices and how you side in certain matchups.

@TMBRLZ - the sideboard honestly was just roughed in. I kinda just picked cards that night not be awful. Sorry I can't give much more insight as im still building the deck

i'm thinking the sideboard should be meant for interacting with faster decks, like affinity, storm (possibly), naya burn, and those kinds of decks. I love pact in there, might wanna go up to 3 or 4. maybe some Stony Silence, or Mindbreak Trap, or Kataki, War's Wage, or even something like Shatterstorm

I copyed it and took out spellskite and grapeshot and put in 3 rattleclaw mystic and got a 3 turn win 5 times in a row and i even morphed it and that gave me 4 mana to have fun with

@ Logics - Will you be replacing Aphotic Wisps with Expedite so that you have 8 Crimson Wisps?

There are very rare situations with Birds of Paradise or Sylvan Caryatid where you want to tap them for mana before you play Cerulean Wisps but don't know which spells you will draw. Cutting out the Aphotic Wisps could help with that but also leaves you with less creatures with Fear.

Yeah I feel like the debate of losing Fear is a semi-difficult one because in most cases Fear = Unblockable.

You could always play Slip Through Space for unlockability. While cutting both green and black and have the only cantrips red and blue. So take out the fear and the irresistible prey and the burst of speed for a 3/2 split of expedite and slip

@ kengiczar - I think the plan for the deck is to make it more consistent once these new cards rotate in. That does involve cutting the Aphotic Wisps, as well as some other things.

Right now my update looks like this:

-1 Elvish Mystic

-1 Irresistible Prey

-3 Aphotic Wisps

-1 Spellskite

-1 Ink-Treader Nephilim

-1 Grapeshot

+4 Expedite

+2 Rattleclaw Mystic

+1 Forest

+1 Empty the Warrens

Unblockable is not really relevant for the most part. I am switching from Grapeshot to Empty the Warrens as it is much easier to storm up to 10 then use Burst of Speed and kill. The 4 Expedite are better in almost every situation than with Aphotic Wisps or Irresistible Prey. The forest is for Path to Exile and I also felt the deck needed one more land for consistency purposes, and figured why not kill 2 birds with one stone.

Mirrorwing Dragon slower, but doesn't require 4th color and only works for you

I don't think Grapeshot works. The copies aren't cast, right?

@VraskaTheCursed - Mirrorwing Dragon was a consideration, but the fact that it comes down a turn later can cause issues. Also between the mana dorks in the deck, it's generally not an issue finding a white source. Also, although Ink-Treader Nephilim has the added bonus of effecting my opponents creatures, allowing me to draw many more cards.

Logics yeah, i figured the extra mana was the main reason for the exclusion...but I didn't realize until you mentioned it that nephilim would draw cards from opponents creatures too! that's very good lol
