Actually Red/Black Vampires!
Vampire Hexmage
- I haven't used much, but is replacing
Stromkirk Noble
for the reason that it's much more useful late game, and is also pretty useful early on.
Guul Draz Vampire
- Possibly the most important component in this deck, simply for it's game ending ability; buff with
Deviant Glee
and Temur Battle Rage for max potency.
Bloodcrazed Neonate
- A liability in some cases, but hasn't proven to be such in my experience with this deck. Almost always survives if it's summoned on turn 2, and buffed with either
Ordeal of Erebos
or
Ordeal of Purphoros
. Also pairs well with
Stromkirk Captain
. If you're in a pinch, always possible to Lightning Bolt whatever stands in your way, as well.
Stromkirk Captain
- First strike and +1/+1 on all your allies? Goes without saying.
Drana, Liberator of Malakir- Get a little flying action going, as well as having that "First Strike/ All attacking creatures gain +1/+1 when Drana deals combat damage." Had to make room for her.
Vampire Nighthawk- Definitely needed some defensive ability, and with the flexibility of
Stromkirk Captain
or Temur Battle Rage granting first strike advantages, it's a shoe-in.
Lightning Bolt- A staple of aggressive red decks, and versatile in many conditions. Kill a creature that's causing trouble, or stab your opponent to drop them to 10 health for
Guul Draz Vampire
.
Temur Battle Rage- Double strike advantages, and trample generate a lot of +1/+1 counters early on. Also a great finisher, as long as you don't get Deflecting Palmed.
Deviant Glee
- Make those weaklings stronger! And once they're stronger, make them trample! Just another way to sneak in more +1/+1 counters easily.
Predator's Gambit
- You might not always see the Intimidate come into play, but even a 1-drop +2/+1 makes it worthwhile. Also possible to swap out against Artifact decks, and other Rakdos-color decks.
Ordeal of Purphoros
- Snag a +1/+1 counter before attacking, and snag another after making contact, if you're lucky. Pretty soon, you'll have enough to fire this off.
Ordeal of Erebos
- Like Purphoros, get the counters, reap the rewards. Especially useful against mid-range and control.
I need sideboard suggestions, mostly, but anything is accepted, as this is my first deck. I'm super susceptible to removal, but don't know what to do about it. Thanks for your time! :)
