Takenuma

How to play Realms

Both players play using a shared library and graveyard. Instead of mulligans, each player gets a seven card hand and adds one of each support card, then returns that many cards from their hand to the library. A number of Denizens start in the command zone, three face up at any given time. Players can cast them from the command zone if they've played a land that turn and don't already control one. Starting hands will be playable and flooding out is minimized.

Takenuma is part of a major overhaul of ancient prototype decks themed around a single color. Here, I've chosen to go deep on the soulshift theme in black, bleeding into red and white to flesh out the theme. As a consequence, I've also chosen to play up Kamigawa flavor and the gameplay of old since the mechanical decision leaves card choices a bit constrained anyway.
