Moon-Moon Part 2: The Reckoning

Standard* Aggro RG (Gruul) Werewolf

Vasilas

Sideboard

My current take on R/G Werwolves in standard. Deck does incredibly well against tempo based decks such as U/W Spirits and can easily slug it out with decks like Bant Company. Werewolves is a deck that punishes every missed land drop and forces your opponents to play sub-optimally.

4x Village Messager: A one drop werewolf with haste that flips into a 2/2 with menace. It hits hard and it hits fast, which is exactly what we want in a deck like this.

4x Kessig Prowler: An extremely underated one drop. 2/1 for one mana allows you to get an early body on the board, and with its ability to transform for 5 mana allows it to be a constant threat even into the late game. This will hardly ever feel like a dead draw. A good tactic is to swing with the 2/1 to bait blocks and then transform mid combat.

4x Lambholt Pacifist: Bant Company is running this and so are we. 3/3 for 2 mana is great for blocking, and with the added utility of your bigger wolves and Howlpack Resurgence, you wont spend many turns unable to attack.

4x Duskwatch Recruiter: This card is the engine that drives the deck. Being able to search your top 3 for creatures is great for those turns where you have nothing to play. The big boon is having all of your creatures cost 1 less mana to play. This can allow you to drop a huge board turn 3 if its allowed to flip.

4x Spirit of the Hunt: This card is in the list solely for the purpose of stopping decks that try to shut you down with languish, its very good at it too.

4x Geier Reach Bandit: This card will often win games by itself, a 3 mana 3/2 with haste is excellent for pushing damage turn 3. The flip side is mindblowingly powerful, allowing all of your werewolves to come in to play flipped, and yes that includes that 1 mana now 4/4 Kessig Prowler

Howlpack Resurgence: Its not quite Moonmist, but then again, what is? +1/+1 and trample as an enchantment is very effective at pumping your 3 health creatures out of the danger zone and pushing damage through pesky chump blocks.

4x Collected Company: 2 free werewolves at instant speed. They even come in flipped if you have your Geier Reach Bandit Transformed. This card is obviously incredible value in this list.

4x Arlinn Kord: A very strong R/G planeswalker and a werewolf to boot! giving your wolves +2/+2, vigilance, and haste for a turn is super nasty and her +0 giving you a 2/2 wolf isn't bad either. Her flip side only ever gets better with all of your creatures getting a free Howlpack Resurgence for a turn and also acting as spot removal. If you get her emblem you win the game, which is always nice.

2x Ulrich of the Krallenhorde: A very strong finisher. Not quite Huntmaster of the Fells, but +4/+4 for a turn is nothing to shake a stick at and nothing wants to be forced to fight a 6/6 if he flips.

Sideboard:

4x Silverfur Partisan: Currently testing in the sideboard against decks that run aggressive creature removal.

3x Aim High: Good for surprising the enemy for blocking as well as for pumping in extra damage if need be. Additional tech against U/W Spirits.

4x Moonlight Hunt: Very strong removal for things you don't want your wolves to fight, I frequently see this hitting for 7 or above.

4x Clip Wings: Great removal against any fliers. U/W spirits is the deck to beat right now and this card shuts them down when necessary.
