Landfall and scions. Scions for chump block and to get some extra mana for big creatures a bit sooner. Landfall for creature ramp, player damage, and extra life. A bit of control for utility and good measure. A couple combos with Smothering Abomination /From Beyond + Desolation Twin/Conduit of Ruin.

First run at a standard deck, suggestions encouraged. I've never put a sideboard together so this is severely lacking that. Mainly play around the kitchen table, but would take this to FNM if competitive enough.

I'd substitute Zendikar's Roil for a couple more From Beyonds. The roil might seem nice, but you'd need at least 3 landfall triggers to make it worthwhile, and I doubt that you'd get that many. Another factor is that you have a lot of ramp, and not a lot of things to ramp to. More From Beyonds would give you that nice tutor opportunity. Ideally, this deck would also run Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger instead of Desolation Twin, but I get that Ulamog can be just a little bit expensive ;). I'm also not sure about how good Evolving Wilds is in a Constructed 2-color deck. Maybe 2 more Llanowar Wastes, or if not, Jungle Hollows? Hope this helps!

Great, thanks! This is exactly the type of help I was looking for.

I guess I didn't think Zendikar's Roil through too much, I'll definitely trade it out for some From Beyond. I agree with getting rid of the Evolving Wilds in favor of something else, but I had them on hand and the LGS only had two Llanowar Wastes in stock. I'll be checking the other stores or online to replace these soon. I also like the idea of Jungle Hollow, but I'm trying to keep it to Origins or BFZ so that this stays standard until mid/late 2016.

Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger scares me, but maybe if I ask nicely he will come play with me...

I substituted the Zendikar's Roil for a couple more Culling Drone, while I wait for 2x more From Beyond. I also pulled the Evolving Wilds in favor of Jungle Hollow. I'll keep my eye on Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger and pick one or two up soon, to exchange for the Desolation Twin
