Sorcery (4)

Artifact (1)

The idea is to pull off an Abzan-colored Rock archetype, but replacing the mana ramp shell with a delve-convoke shell.

Fatties

  • Eidolon of Countless Battles is a beefy hitter on his own, although I much prefer to stick him on a trample target over anything else. This is because, with trample, I'm likely to clean up some small dudes from the opponent's side without burning any hate.
  • Siege Rhino is the best. A six point swing when he lands, plus he's a 4/5 trample for 4. He can also tap for green convoke in a tight spot.
  • Siege Wurm didn't seem all that great when he came out in M15, but having another 5/5 trample body to bestow and eat up the board is awesome in this build.
  • Swarmborn Giant is tough to get rid of when I have a lot of dudes out, but he doesn't have trample, so in all he's not that great.
  • Feed the Clan does not get enough love. Ten life for two mana at instant speed can turn a bad situation into purposely baiting a softened hit to the face, leaving the opponent exposed for game next turn.

Hate

  • Murderous Cut can be really cheap to cast, especially if I've already hit a lot of my other hate or token making spells.
  • Sorin, Solemn Visitor also goes great with a token storm, but can also make dudes and has a terrifying ultimate for haterodding.
  • Abzan Charm permanent removal, and in a tight spot can refill my hand or gets me the one or two points I need to close up a game.
  • Savage Punch helps break up stalemate-y board positions against other midrange decks.
  • Bile Blight kills a surprising amount of dudes in the current meta, let alone wrecks full-fledged token decks.

Shell

  • Raise the Alarm is a staple in any convoke build. Usually I prefer to EOT make some dudes, but I can also drop it for free on turns where I'm also convoking.
  • Ornithopter helps convoke and Eidolon go off and is an occasional target for the Eidolon's bestow ability
  • Murderous Cut can be really cheap to cast, especially if I've already hit a lot of my other hate or token making spells.
  • Evolving Wilds helps resolve a murderous cut pretty fast, it's one of the cheapest cards in the game, and with all the tap lands in the meta, not that slow in comparison.

Suggestions

Updates Add

Round 1

  • Opponent Minotaurs
  • Result 2-1 me

Usually I have trouble with fast decks like this, but games two and three I was able to hit my early game kill spells, then proceed to eat up his board with trample.

  • Favorite Play Stain the Mind naming Ragemonger

Round 2

  • Opponent Mardu midrange
  • Result 2-1 me

Again with the red? Her Butchers were troublesome and won her the second game. Game three I got lucky when she never saw more than two lands.

  • Favorite Play Dropping a Seige Rhino, three turns in a row

Round 3

  • Opponent Abzan Midrange
  • Result 2-1 him

At times this match up felt like a mirror match. It went back and forth pretty consistently, the victor being determined by who hit his draws better.

  • Favorite Play Abzan Charming all the things.

Round 4

  • Opponent Mono-green
  • Result 2-0 me

This was a fun match up, my big green dudes going head-to-head with his. My removal was more generic, so I was able to get there first.

  • Favorite Play Bestow Seige Rhino then drop an Ornithopter. He Naturalizes the Eidolon, then makes he block with the Ornithopter. So I bestow again and drop another thopter, then swing game.
