after war —Aug. 25, 2019

Did an update well after war was released. Leaving the side open for future testing to see what the local meta is

i've played this alot and found mangara/karakas is a little too slow. even looking at other lists, hes a maybe 1 of in the main. and what enchantment are you talking about?

Im using the tutor for the combo im running, ontop of the other tools in the deck. if further playing shows its too fringe or weak it will go.

If omniscience is on the filed, enter the infinite will follow right after and thats game 1 lost.

So when i see mangara, i see a window. That one turn window for the omnitell player to play Enter the Infinite with no response. My thought is that with the current meta, mangara is too slow. Takes one turn to get online when i would need something to be online the moment its on the field.

Stinkin omni can go off with Cunning Wish at instant speed. Where Oblivion Ring and Venser, Shaper Savant use to work so well, they do not any longer. Best card in the sb might be Ethersworn Canonist to put in for the SnT, then some type of removal. Managara is so good with Karakas, but is a bit slow, so both points are valid. Sounds like a call based on the meta, or if you play online just switch the deck around to fit you mood for the day. As well as my sb i usually carry 30-50 other cards that are legit options to move into the mb or sb of my decks. A non managara list could be cool for a while, then you fall back in love with it, then out again. I am interested in the impact of all the green hate, 2x mirran and the sword of feet and fam. My meta has so few goyfs so it might scew my opinion, but i run mb 1x mirran, 1x mangara, and sb 1x mirran, but have put the sword in the sb from time to time.

Althogh it is somewhat meta-dependant, I would swap out the Sword of Feast and Famine in your SB for either Sword of Light and Shadow or Sword of War and Peace. Pro white is super relevant against Miracles and in the mirror. With some light disruption, SoWaP is also a legit way to race combo decks.

If Omni-Tell is still a concern for you, Leonin Relic-Warder, Disenchant, or Seal of Cleansing are all good answers to Omniscience that also help in Stoneforge mirrors.

If you want to take a look at the list I'm currently tesing you can see it here.

I hear Disenchant is a thing, but you should try to fit more Mangara of Corondor... BTW why doesn't anyone play Konda's Banner or Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip as another beater that blinks with the land.

If anything you are playing white so slow them down with Rishadan Port and Wasteland. If they Show and Tell then use Containment Priest. Silence is also a good option too keep them off turn.

that is why those cards are in my list

elbrus is just too expensive for legacy. Even with stone forge i would almost 100% grab jitte or batterskull over it. and konda's banner i feel is too niche. The reason i cut mangara is i just feel its too slow in the current meta. playing him turn 3 then having to wait turn 4, i would much rather turn three a thalia and have mana open for a swords or port and swords

Mangara is a good target for Recruiter of the Guard if you really need to remove something.

Council's Judgment Wtf why is this better then Mangara... It's so much worst and not even worth the slot in comparison to options of play and ability to fetch is with RotG.

Good luck with the deck thou

Council's Judgment is better because it doesnt target

WesomeNight, Like smackjack said, its not a target spell. Ontop of that, its a two turn difference in speed. In legacy, speed is everything. Back when I first made this list, Mangara was commonplace, but cards like True-Name Nemesis made managar irrelevant.

I play mangara as a 1of because i have always liked the karakas shenanigans, plus its nice to have some sort of toolbox for recruiter. I wouldnt say he is an auto include, i play him mostly because i like the card :)
