30 lands | Primer Updates —Sept. 10, 2018

Putting my mana base to a stress test. Took out 2 lands to make room for some overdue additions.

2x Islands -> Armageddon, Stonehorn Dignitary;

The Chain Veil -> Tezzeret the Seeker;

Omenspeaker -> Aura of Silence

Ran across this sorting through cards. Cryptic Annelid. It is Omenspeaker on steroids. Costs 2 more, but the scry value......

That looks amazing! I will need to think about it first though. I use Omenspeaker mainly because it helps me set up things early in the game. Cryptic Annelid might be a step too late but we'll see. Great find though! Thanks!

Hi!

Just came to have a look at the deck, Parallax Wave is some pretty great tech! Just a quick ruling - Fading N (This creature enters the battlefield with N fade counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a fade counter from it. If you can't, sacrifice it.)

So you can use Parallax Wave with all five counters aslong as you can then flicker it. This also is great if you use Parallax Tide for ramp (and infinite mana) or you can even add Parallax Dementia as a cheaper copy of Reality Acid

Thank you for the comment. I did not know Parallax Dementia existed. I will put it under consideration since Reality Acid can be attached to any permanents instead of just creatures. Still a good card though.

I had Parallax Tide in the list before but it never seemed to work well enough to control an entire 4-man pod unlike the Wave.

Thanks!

Act of Authority is blinkable removal that permanently exiles its targets. With your commander's +1, you can easily abuse Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign and top deck whatever cool card from your hand she can cast.

Okay. So are you only using the oaths (Oath of Jace, etc) for their etb effect? Because you have 2 planeswalkers in this entire deck. And yeah I get that one is your commander but still pretty bad.

Next, HOLY RAMP BATMAN you have 16 mana rocks. Tone it down bud.

Emeria Shepherd is not great, Ixidron is really bad (you have no way to turn your dudes face-up again).

Suggestions for some good stuff to blink:

Azor, the Lawbringer, Duplicant, Solemn Simulacrum.

Also, get you some Brago, King Eternal!!!

Hey, I will probably base my aminatou deck off of this. One exclusion that I noticed and that I think should be in the deck: Animate Dead. Not only can you flicker it to change which creature it's reanimating (even your opponents'), but it's an infinite with Leonin Relic-Warder for an arbitrary amount of etb triggers, which you're already set up for with altar of the brood. Cheers

Thank you for the inputs!

@Lanzo493 It is a good card but I was hoping to get cards that were more slot efficient. Act only targets artifacts and enchantments my opponents control. It’s nice that it exiles them permanently but I would prefer something that can serve as a pseudo flicker effect.

Btw, Yennet is not in the deck because making good use of her would pull the entire deck towards a different direction. I kinda like the way things stand atm.

@ZendikariWol I like your enthusiasm but I would have to disagree with you for the most part. Like about 70% of the cards here, Oath of Jace is there for its ETB ability. That is kind of the main gimmick of the entire deck. The scry is actually quite useful in ensuring I don’t fateseal myself with Aminatou’s +1 ability.

I need a lot of ramp since Winter Orb is one of my main options in slowing down the game. I am also considering the addition of Armageddon and I might even bring my land count down to thirty. But i’ll be mindful of the rocks in my next few games just in case you’re right. I am with you on Ixidron. I am also iffy about the card although I do have Eerie Interlude and Ghostway. I will probably replace it though. As for Emeria Shepherd, it actually works. I was very hesitant to include it but it works really well late in the game when i’m trying to maintain control over the pod.

Brago was here for most of the deck’s existence. It never performed as well as it would have in theory. Maybe I could bring it back to replace Ixidron or The Chain Veil but we’ll see.

Took note of your suggestions. Not a fan of Duplicant. Azor seems overcosted too.

@UltiPizza I had some reanimation here for a while. Problem with that is until something good dies, they get stuck in my hand. The combo just might be enough reason to add it back into the deck as it provides additional value to Leonin Relic-Warder. I’ll think about it.

Again, thank you for the comments and the suggestions. If you like the deck please do give it an upvote.

Why don't you include a tezzeret in this list? With Aminatou in play he will fetch winter orb + tanglewire the turn you cast him.

You may also want to consider rings or brighthearth and the monolith. Tezzeret can tutor rings. Flicker him with Aminatou and tutor monolith + divining top and you have the win.

Blinkmoth Well can help you get around suffering from your own Winter Orb in the event need or want to reduce the mana rocks.

mystakai that is an interesting suggestion. Thanks! Do you see any card in the list that is worth replacing? There are still so many cards that would fit really well in the deck. I’m looking for ones that could provide the most value and Tezz just might be one of those.

IvyLeaguerCU Indeed it can. The problem with Blinkmoth Well is that it will take up one slot in the deck for the sole purpose of tapping Winter Orb. Thank you for the suggestion though.

I would look to cut some of the weaker early game blink targets. Flickering Wall of Omens is not that exciting. Also, I'm not a big fan of Soothsaying. It's too expensive maybe all three Rishadan creatures are too many as well.

Wall of Omens actually helps keep Aminatou from getting attacked early in the game. I do feel that I have one too many scry creatures so Omenspeaker might be on its way out.

I agree with your thoughts about Soothsaying. It has been underwhelming.

I do plan on eventually replacing Rishadan Cutpurse but having all three seems fine atm.

Again, thank you for your insights.
