The times they are a'changin' —May 9, 2013

Well, the deck has become a bit of a janky reanimator build. I really want to try out to see how this goes, as I love Deathrite Shaman. We will see

Whats the point of the Stomping Ground and the Sacred Foundry? You have no red mana symbols so It seems life they are just there to make your deck look more expensive (which it needs no help with :P).

They are in for Kessig Wolf Run, which is by far the best utility land for a midrange deck such as this

I'm a bit confused about why you run Selesnya Keyrune, Wouldn't you rather play a good old three mana 3/3 like Centaur Healer? With 4 Farseeks, it doesn't look like you need the ramp, and your highest cmc is 5.

So far I've had nothing but success with Selesnya Keyrune. It is much harder to remove because sorcery speed kill spells and boardwipes don't hit it. That means that if I get my board wiped by something I can still attack or block the next turn and I still have a target for Kessig Wolf Run. Against aggro decks it will get sideboarded out for Blind Obedience, Vampire Nighthawk and the like but against control it gives a lot of problems

I never thought of it as an anti control card, props to you! Other than that I really like the list, +1 for sure.

With so many tokens, surely it would make sense to run a Parallel Lives?

Kessig Wolf Run is a good finisher but what about Gavony Township since you have so many creatures?

@ dream_cast: Parallel Lives is just too slow. As a four drop I'd much rather be doing other things with that mana.

@ strongwalker: Generally I prefer Kessig Wolf Run, it is just a stronger card. Also, Gavony Township doesn't work that well with Obzedat, Ghost Council, as he will lose his counters when he gets exiled (which I almost always do)

Great deck overall :) +1. But from reading your FNM game summaries, why don't at least sideboard in Frontline Medic ? You seemed to be having a lot of trouble with Bonfire of the Damned . Just a suggestion :)

hollandboys says... #15

That is a great idea, he is definitely worth a sideboard. Gets rid of Sphinx's Revelation too

is splashing red for kessig wolfrun really worth it? it seems a little mediocre to me and can really screw up your mana base

Sakage says... #17

just thinking, im guessing the Tormod's Crypt is for playing against human reanimator and blue control variants, why not just run Rest in Peace instead. gets rid of everything they put into the graveyard and you dont even worry about recovering anything so it doesnt harm you at all.

hollandboys says... #18

@ theonyc: so far it has been worth it. It has won me games and I've had no trouble with mana so far.

@ Sa'kagé: Rest in Peace hurts Lingering Souls , which is a huge card for this deck especially when combo'd with Sorin

oh yeah, forgot you had those in there. yeah definitely wouldnt run it then.

Considering you have 4x Restoration Angel , maybe the Loxodon Smiter should be Centaur Healer instead.

Considering you have no board wipes, maybe the Selesnya Keyrune should be Avacyn's Pilgrim or Arbor Elf instead.

I'm not sure I understand why you have 4x Orzhov Charm , as it seems Selesnya Charm is at least as good.

Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is pretty good with tokens, with Thragtusk , and especially with Obzedat, Ghost Council .

The battle between Loxodon Smiter and Centaur Healer has been constant in this deck, but Loxodon's ability to either block and kill or trade with almost any card in standard is what put it in (most for Boros Reckoner ).

It is true that I do not have board wipes, but my opponents do. The Keyrune is significantly harder for my opponent to remove and is a bigger body for late game when I'm trying to Kessig Wolf Run to death.

Orzhov Charm is much better than Selesnya Charm . There is no restriction on the power of the creature I am destroying and I gain enough life to make it very viable.

I've been thinking about sideboarding Trostani instead of Rhox Faithmender but it's harder to cast. Plus faithmender is so good with the wolf run. I'll play around with all the options. Thanks

So i see a deck that jsut took the most op cards in your colors and put them in a deck and then patched the synergy together. . . and it looks GREAT! but....Dreadbore and Supreme Justice or any other board wipe completely wrecks this deck....

Take out stomping ground and boros foundry, and you need to add avacyns pilgrim and arbor elf for ramp

April 2, 2013 9:16 p.m.

Stomping Ground and Sacred Foundry are both very important to this deck to play Kessig Wolf Run . Without them this deck would lose momentum, Avacyn's Pilgrim and Arbor Elf don't give the utility needed for this deck that cards like Deathrite Shaman or Selesnya Keyrune do. If we learned anything from past decks its that cards in the graveyard can be just as deadly as cards in the hand, and that mass creature wipes happen often so artifacts or lands that counter this effect are more then troublesome for opponents prepared only for creatures.
