Modern Bant Infect. Super affordable with just enough control and death mitigation to keep you in the game and some of the better low-mana infect cards. Still not sure about the mana. The sideboard is 4 of the best, most affordable, anti-theme cards for modern.

Game plan:

Turn 1: Forest -- Glistener Elf

Turn 2: Island -- Distortion Strike + Mutagenic Growth x 3 (pay with life) + Giant Growth; swing for 11 infect

That scenario is really unlikely. Here are two scenarios where you pull no doubles and deal 13 infect by turn 3:

Turn 1: Forest -- Glistener Elf

Turn 2: Island -- Distortion Strike + Giant Growth; swing for 5 infect

Turn 3: Plains -- rebound Distortion Strike; Double Cleave + Mutagenic Growth; swing for 8 more infect

Scenario 2:

Turn 1: Forest -- Glistener Elf

Turn 2: Island -- Distortion Strike + Giant Growth; swing for 5 infect

Turn 3: Plains -- rebound Distortion Strike; Wild Defiance ; Mutagenic Growth (pay 2 life); swing for 8 infect

Fun features of the deck:

People I've played against have been confused when they see Melira, Sylvok Outcast hit the table... right up until Phyrexian Unlife joins it. As long as those two are in play you can't lose except by milling or cards that say you lose the game.

The sideboard has counters to some of the more common and OP modern themes: slivers, tokens, artifacts, milling. It also has Simic Charm for buffing or removal of big baddies or Melira, Sylvok Outcast.

The lands are designed to be cheap but useful. Soaring Seacliff for example won't exactly get you a mana rush early game but who doesn't love a good ol' flying infect creature. Simic Growth Chamber and the like let you recycle those cards for future use.
