Group Hug? I deal damage to myself than cast Near-Death Experience by turn 4. Ton's of draw power and ways to lose life.

The inspiration for this deck comes from a very real place. I'm Type 2 Bi-Polar with Psychosis, and I'm a recovering alcoholic. I hit a very low place and was fortunate enough to survive a suicide attempt.

I typically don't like to air my dirty laundry as I am not emo, nor do I starve for that kind of attention. Near-Death Experience sums up the way I have to look at the last couples years and the days ahead. Life is not a game, however, Magic The Gathering is. I hope anyone going through something similar can find some inspiration here. I present to you...

Living on the Edge

Let's Break it Down

Turn 1: Drop land and cast Gitaxian Probe (2 damage), draw a card, than use land for 1 mana (1 damage) for Birds of Paradise. 3 total damage.

Turn 2: Drop land, tap both land (2 damage) and cast Manamorphose, draw a card, cycle Street Wraith (2 damage), draw a card, with 2 floating cast Beastcaller Savant. Use him and Birds of Paradise for Howling Mine 7 total damage.

Turn 3: Draw 2, Drop land, tap all 3 land (3 damage), cast Gitaxian Probe (2 damage), draw a card, use 2 of your 3 floating mana to cast Manamorphose, draw a card, cycle Street Wraith (2 damage), draw a card, than cast Wall of Blood. 14 total damage.

Turn 4: Draw 2, Drop land, tap 3 lands and cast Near-Death Experience (3 damage). If they try to destroy it, you should have Faith's Shield in your hand. You will usually have Angel's Grace in your hand as this point as well. Hold onto it incase things get shifty.

Turn 5: At the end of your uncap step use Wall of Blood to drop you life total down to 1. At the beginning of your upkeep your life total is 1. You win!

While the above description is a typical turn, there are occasions when you can't get the combo off without Pact of Negation in which case you can swap it out for Beastcaller Savant.

Be careful as the name of this deck accurately describes the nature therein. Make sure to ping yourself with your lands as much as possible but not so much so that you are not able to cast Near-Death Experience and Angel's Grace "if necessary" without killing yourself.

If people choose to attack you or burn than use the colorless mana of your lands as much as you can. Faith's Shield works great to fend off opponent for 1 more turn, which "if you played it right" will be all you need.
