Mardu Minotaurs

Casual

wsdean

This is my casual minotaur deck. It's Red Devotion at heart, but with splashes of black and white. Black is in there for the Deathbellow Raider and Kragma Warcaller; white is for removing things Lightning Bolt won't hit. I'm not wedded to either of the splashes, but I think they improve the deck, and Mardu Minotaurs is fun to say.

The deck is a blast to play. It's mid-rangey, but it can be aggro or pseudo-control depending on the opponent. It's even got a pinch of combo, in the form of Boros Reckoner and Blasphemous Act! Optimally, I want to curve out with Didgeridoo and Deathbellow Raider. After that, it depends on the situation. Playing Tahngarth, Talruum Hero or a Kragma Warcaller on the end-step for 3 mana is a great feeling. Flashing in Reckoner as a blocker is a sweet play, or Rageblood Shaman before combat damage. If possible, hold your Fanatic of Mogis until you have 4-5 devotion.

I've recently been experimenting with adding Blazing Shoal, just to keep the opponent further on their toes. Between Didgeridoo and the threat of a combo kill from Reckoner/Act or Shoal (pitching Act), you want your opponent to live in fear. The possibility of you burning them out at any time is very powerful.

The mana base is budget. Adding playsets of Arid Mesa, Bloodstained Mire and Clifftop Retreat (along with a couple of copies of Sacred Foundry and Blood Crypt) would probably improve it a lot.
