Thought Lash

Enchantment

Cumulative upkeep-Remove the top card of your library from the game. (At the beginning of your upkeep, put an age counter on this permanent, then sacrifice it unless you pay its upkeep cost for each age counter on it.)

When Thought Lash's cumulative upkeep isn't paid, remove your library from the game.

Remove the top card of your library from the game: Prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to you this turn.

Have you considered Thought Lash? It's an alternate method of winning with Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Thassa's Oracle.

Tanks for sharing your point of view !

I've been too much rude with Thought Lash indeed. I'm so focussed on giving this card that I always forgot it make you win with Thassa's Oracle :p

Approach of the Second Sun is a very easy way to win (too much in my opinion) : Zedruu let you draw 3 or 4 cards per turn in average, so it's a 2 turn clock for your opponents. But I know our MotherGoat is very greedy in mana ressources, even more in Bad Gift archetype.

Good luck, and don't forget to spray joy with our MotherGoat !

Hey Exoflo, thanks for the comment on my Zedruu deck! I appreciate the feedback.

I agree with your take on Witch Hunt . The thought process was that it's a free donate, but it works counter to the other strategies in the deck. I'm going to look for something to replace it. Probably Laboratory Maniac for the additional wincon. More below on that.

I've had moderate to good success with cards like Glacial Fortress and the like. I didn't include any of the fetchlands mainly because the ones I do have are currently in other decks. But, I'm looking to pick up some more soon with all the reprints in MH2.

As for Thought Lash , I think it definitely serves a role in this deck. While it's true that it doesn't add a lot of value for the donate aspect, it can immediately facilitate wincons like Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac . The errata text allows you to exile X cards from your library for free (and at instant speed no less) to prevent the next X damage dealt to you. Now I'll freely admit, I thought I already had Laboratory Maniac in this deck. Not sure how he slipped through, but he's a perfect replacement for Witch Hunt . I'm also considering trying to add Approach of the Second Sun , but I'm not sure I like having to pay the 7 mana cost for it twice.

Hi darksideownedu !

Your deck seems really cool. I'm not a big fan of Bad Gift Zedruu but I have to admit it's an archetype that works.

I don't know if you've already played the deck, but does cards like Glacial Fortress trigger all the time ? Personally I don't run this kind of land, but I have less basic land than you. Also, fetchland are incredible cards in a manabase. If you have money for, add Arid Mesa , Flooded Strand and Scalding Tarn to your deck.

For the deck itself, it seems very consistent. I honestly think Thought Lash is a bad card : it take in average 13 turn to mill 90 cards (counting the natural draw of the opponent) and 10 turns to get rid of 60 cards.

Also, I wonder why you run Witch Hunt . It seems not really synergistic with Zedruu's life gain and cards like Angel of Destiny or Aetherflux Reservoir .

Finally, medallion cards (like Sapphire Medallion ) seems really good, I will try them in my deck some game to see how strong they can be. I advise you to run Thought Vessel rather than Spellbook (no maximal hand size while ramping ? Amazing !). Pentad Prism and Sphere of the Suns are pretty good rock to give away.

I love your idea to run Angel of Destiny : that's a so good political card, I've never seen it used like this.

In a nutshell, I think it's a really cool deck to play, Zedruu's ability is what make me fall in love with her, so I love seeing how people exploit it. Have fun, and don't forget to spray joy with our MotherGoat !

Hi Robins_compass !

Thanks for your deck ! You made me discover many cards I didn't know about. I'm not a big fan of Bag Gift Zedruu, but it's an archetype I have that admit that exist. And your deck seem pretty good to do it.

I don't know if you've already played the deck, but does the number of land is ok ? 33 seems really weak (I would run 36-37). You also run "only" 7 cheap mana rock. Please let me know if I'm wrong with that.

For the deck itself, it seems very consistent. I honestly think Thought Lash is a bad card : it take in average 13 turn to mill 90 cards (counting the natural draw of the opponent) and 10 turns to get rid of 60 cards.

Also, I wonder why you run Upheaval . It seems not really synergistic with Zedruu's ability. However it's a very good card in blue deck (but I prefer Cyclonic Rift :p)

Hi Milliam_Shakespeare !

That's cool to see other players deck build zedruu deck, our favorite goat. Keep on this way ! I'm not a big fan of Bad Gift Zedruu but it's a kind of game plan that work. For this build, I would advice you to run Confusion in the Ranks in your deck, which is a good exchange card that will avoid you to spend mana or cards like Donate or Harmless Offering and put some spice in the game.

I don't think Thought Lash is a good card. For scale, it take 13 turns to mill 90 cards, and 10 turns to mill 60 cards. Quite long to kill your opponent.

Also, if you have 15$ to spend, Cyclonic Rift is an awesome card to get. It's not a very big synergy with the spirit of your deck, but it can definitely turn the situation around

Best of luck to you, and spread your gifts with love

Hey there, thanks for the feedback!

I decided not to run Dramatic Scepter as they tend to be fairly dead cards on their own in this list. Unlike a commander such as Urza, Lord High Artificer we can't use Isochron Scepter as a rock, and Dramatic Reversal doesn't help dorks ramp when they just came into play.

I've actually never thought of that synergy with Basalt Monolith! While I'm generally not a fan of Basalt due to how slow it is, I'm gonna add it to my list of things to test so I can see how well it fits into the deck.

Walking Ballista is something that I've been on and off about. The main reason I haven't included it is because if I have infinite mana available and a tutor, I'm going to be fetching Thrasios, Triton Hero anyways. While Ballista is hit by artifact tutors, chances are if I have those tutors I'm going to be aiming for our Sensei's Divining Top line instead. Also it gets shut down by Null Rod effects which is part of the reason I have Thrasios as the deck's main backup, since he isn't affected by them.

I didn't include Incubation Druid since it's one of the weakest dorks IMO and takes too much to get set up in comparison with the other two. I feel like having Bloom Tender and Faeburrow Elder is enough when it comes to the untap combos.

Honestly the reason I didn't take Intuition is because I forgot about it lmao, I'm so used to playing Rest in Peace decks that I usually don't think about it. Will add it in ASAP.

Runic Armasaur I have a love/hate relationship with. It's great when it works and awful when it doesn't, but I'll probably sideboard it for matchups where I'm against decks it gets a lot of value from. I'd most likely swap it out for Verity Circle actually since currently my meta runs a lot of dorks hence its inclusion.

When it comes to Thassa's Oracle the reason I say it's a dead card is because it does nothing on its own. It's definitely a combo piece and an excellent one at that, but by itself it just sits in our hand if we draw it. Thought Lash and Paradigm Shift are also dead cards in the same fashion since their only purpose would be to pair with Oracle.

I actually forgot about Long-Term Plans as well which is funny since I actually like it a lot in general, so thanks for reminding me about it!

I'm personally not a huge fan of cards like Drift of Phantasms which only exist for their Transmute effect. The reason I include Muddle the Mixture is because it's also a budget counter as well.

Idyllic Tutor I've been on the fence about here. It could likely go into the list but I need to test it more to make a decision tbh.

For Stony Silence effects that's exactly why we have the Thrasios, Triton Hero / Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy line as our secondary wincon.

Once again, thanks for the feedback! I'll certainly add in Intuition and Long-Term Plans, as well as test out Basalt Monolith to see how that goes. Will mostly likely try Idyllic Tutor some more but I'll have to find space for it first.
