Optimal number of creatures in Nekusar, the Mindrazer EDH?

I know the usual drill with him and I have been having quite a bit of fun testing with Waste Not , Wheel of Fortune and Reverberate .
I've been running Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind for his obvious synergies with my card draw but I've been feeling like I never want to play him. Ever. In a similar vein Hive Mind has high end potential, but never seems to be what I want to do. I need a lot of mana just to cast it and a Wheel effect in the same turn, so most times it just ends up in my graveyard.
So I've been examining other options. I like stuff like Geth, Lord of the Vault and Wrexial, the Risen Deep to get some value out of all the discarded things. With Waste Not I see using Geth's ability to steal some pretty things. It's amazing how much land gets discarded. The only thing is, are they in the same boat as what I'm taking out? AKA Win More?
Alternatively I've been considering things like Wild Ricochet . I feel like it's a little expensive, but copies are nice and combo-y...even if the triggers get a little messy to figure out. Further to this, I've been wondering if just adding more removal would be good.
I need some opinions. It turns out there are lots of cards I'm not happy with (like Whirlpool Warrior
and Molten Psyche
) so I'm listening.

I think I'm just batting around style at this point.
I like how strong Waste Not has been for me so far in 1v1 testing, nevermind multiplayer. I make so many Zombie tokens it's made me consider adding Undead Alchemist , Death Baron and Zombie Master .

I would urge you to stick to theme. The strongest EDH decks stay religiously to a game plan and don't deviate.

Fair enough. So you'd consider sticking with Niv Mizzet then to get the pings off the card draw rather than trying to make use of the cards they're discarding?

I would indeed. Having said that Undead Alchemist somewhat counters creatures that shuffle back into the library and so is a good idea.

The only downside is I don't do any actual milling other than Zombie tokens dealing combat damage when it's out...

Well, thanks. I think I'm going to settle with the status quo for now. Try and test some more and see how it feels.

If you are looking for ideas, I have a Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck ( Amnesia ). Two cards that do great work for me are Meekstone and Sire Of Insanity . One thing I have noticed is that discard is much different than shuffling back into library. I think discard is more powerful, generally speaking. How has Waste Not performed for you? My fear is that in a multiplayer game I would end up drawing my entire deck or (with my build) kill myself with damage from card draw.

I have been loving Waste Not
in testing. Combined with stuff like Wheel of Fortune
and Windfall
I see huge results.
I worried about decking myself too, since I also run Consecrated Sphinx and Notion Thief but that's what Laboratory Maniac is for. Honestly though I've only come close once on a Windfall for 21.

I ended up adding Mirari and Melek, Izzet Paragon over Mercurial Chemister and Teferi's Puzzle Box . I draw enough cards that I'm not concerned about losing the draw from the Puzzle Box and this way it's more combo-y. Melek is ridiculous.

I started on a Nekusar deck, but never finished it. Since I had so much discard and draw effects I tried to include creatures I could return from the graveyard to my hand, like the Firewing Phoenix .

I like the idea, but I feel like they detract from the goal; Cast/copy lots of wheel effects.

Really you need to ask yourself how often you die to combat damage and how often you wish you had blockers. You don't NEED anything in EDH.
