If it's still possible to submit a deck I want to add a Simic deck:

Here we go. I'd love to get a link to the discord hub for tappedout if possible!

@EpicFreddi just realized my deck is below 40 cards. Mind if I add Pithing Needle, Condemn, and Lightning Helix to make sure I am eligible to compete?

Homura_Akemi says... #3

I am interested in participating in this tournament. I will post a Simic or Boros deck, as they have the least number of decks. Please count me in!!!

I would prefer to play my opponents, but would accept if they cannot play because of time restraints. Thank you EpicFreddi for organizing this and offering to play matches for competitors! :)

Homura_Akemi says... #5

Wow 24 total decks now...

November 9, 2016 7:26 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #6

Is there a problem with me entering a deck as well? I swear I play a fair creature deck, no cheating here.

November 10, 2016 11:25 a.m.

Homura_Akemi says... #7

No, sorry I did not mean to imply that...

November 10, 2016 11:30 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #8

That wasn't adressed to you, it was a general question. No worries. :D
(I saw a few tournament where the organizer can't enter and I can understand that though, given that I could potentionally cheat my way to victury. But since we play for honor and a banner, I think me entering is alright.)

XD I'm so silly

EpicFreddi I have no problem with you entering, if you think you can handle it while running the rest of the show. Go for it!

Make us an epic decklist!

November 10, 2016 3:30 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #12

@unos, oh he will!

November 10, 2016 3:31 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #13

It's just a normal gruul list, because I like creatures. :D

November 11, 2016 3:24 a.m. Edited.

beakedbard says... #14

I'm changing Fluxcharger to Wee Dragonauts in my deck if that's all good.

November 11, 2016 7:27 a.m.

unos says... #15

To satisfy my curiosity and yours I'll summarize the current deck submissions (by guild sorted in alphabetical order):

Assuming I haven't missed any, currently there is a total of 24 decks with every guild well represented.

EpicFreddi Is it okay if I join this tourney?

November 12, 2016 6:37 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #19

Sure, you can enter till the 14th.

November 12, 2016 6:47 p.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #20

Thanks!

beakedbard says... #21

Here's a point can i add Stitch in Time? I was assuming not to due to coin flips but it shouldn't be too hard to find something that does coin flips.

unos says... #22

Thanks to the suggestions of some of the contestants (thanks Ithyn and Atony1400) I made substantial changes to my Simic deck so that it is very different from the other submitted simic deck (that one is an aggro, i then made mine to be a rampy deck). That is the last modification I'll make, I'd just like everyone to know this because it seems right to announce it. So please have a look at it.

I'm an inexperienced player as I only ever played MTg IRL with friends, and not that much. I have never really used Cockatrice to play against others, and I humbly ask if somebody could be willing to play my submitted deck in my stead. Also if there's some kind of streaming or recording I'd love to watch it.

November 13, 2016 12:22 p.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #23

Here is my submission. It is Simic and ready to rock, as long as it's approved for play by you. If I missed something, let me know. Otherwise, hope you enjoy!

November 13, 2016 8:46 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #24

beakedbard I don't mind, go for it.

November 14, 2016 2:58 a.m.

Ithyn says... #25

May I take out Biomass Mutation and replace it with Forced Adaptation?

November 14, 2016 7:40 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #26

Fine, but that's the last change. It'll be closed very shortly.

November 14, 2016 8:02 a.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #27

I've made changes, if that's all right. I've subtracted 3 Forests and replaced them each with an Island, Simic Growth Chamber, and Novijen, Heart of Progress. I then added Momir Vig, Simic Visionary and Prime Speaker Zegana and subbed out Coiling Oracle.

November 14, 2016 2:44 p.m.

beakedbard says... #28

Awesome I've switched out Wee Dragonauts for Stitch in Time then.

Selesnya for Ravnica Contest

November 14, 2016 9:48 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #31

Wee_Dragonaut, Your deck doesn't quite follow the 40 card singleton style of this tournement.

EpicFreddi, have you stop accepting submissions?

November 14, 2016 10:01 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #32

I would accept his deck given that he posted it on the 14th in his time zone, but since it's a modern deck he built, I won't accept it and I won't wait for him to make changes.

Long story short, registration is now closed. I'll need some time to create the decks and think about a way to stream/record it.

November 15, 2016 6:36 a.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #33

Cool! So when does this tourney start? And when it does, will the people who submitted their decks be playing, or will people be playing them for us IRL?

November 15, 2016 7:31 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #34

I'll make a list of all the players that entered, make pairings, ask each player if they want to play for themselves and then I'll make the rest.

November 15, 2016 7:39 a.m.

Ithyn says... #35

20IzzetEngineer00, to my understanding, it is your choice whether you or someone else will play your deck.

November 15, 2016 7:43 a.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #36

Thanks! It really depends on the date whether I play my deck or someone else plays it, to be honest. I do hope that I can play it, 'cause it's almost good (my deck, I mean :D)

November 15, 2016 7:46 a.m.

unos says... #37

So now that submissions are closed and decks can't be modified it's time for polls and opinions!

  • What is your favourite deck in the contest beside your own?

  • Given this contest's rules, which is the best guild in your opinion?

My favourite decks in the contest are Flash of Genius SGRPC by beakedbard and SGRPC - Boros Weiners, anyone? by Atony1400. They flow so perfectly even though they're made just by adding singletons.

The best guild is Golgari in my opinion. In a limited singleton-format, having a consistent graveyard recursion and extremely powerful creatures and excellent removal against every kind of permanent is killer. If I made a golgari deck though, it would have been much more focused on sacrifice+dredge than the two current decks in the contest.

November 15, 2016 9:31 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #38

I think uw is the best. Detain + tempo too good. I would've played it, but I could never walk away from g/r. :D

November 15, 2016 11:58 a.m.

beakedbard says... #39

I agree U/W is probably the strongest with B/G second also B/W has a lot of potential. Unless Gruul just smashes face i see one of those color variations winning. I just couldn't resist doing Izzet due to them being my favourite guild.

Bovine073 says... #40

Pack Rat op.

November 15, 2016 1:14 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #41

@Bovine073, but with only 40 cards in a deck, and only 5 rats in the block (besides Ogre Slumlord that makes rats), is Pack Rat really that strong?

November 15, 2016 1:34 p.m.

Bovine073 says... #42

Golgari tutors, my friend. And Pack Rat doesn't need friends to make it good, that's why it is good.

November 15, 2016 1:39 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #43

True true.

November 15, 2016 1:42 p.m.

unos says... #44

Bovine073 could you please enable the Chat with me? Thanks.

November 15, 2016 1:45 p.m.

unos says... #45

I'm sorry I can't see you in the chat, that means I will have to write here.

Bovine073, your deck has some cards that are not from the RAV or RTR blocks. I think you should get rid of them quickly and let everyone know when you're done.

November 15, 2016 1:58 p.m.

Bovine073 says... #46

unos thanks for the heads up. Boneyard Wurm, Eternal Witness, and Putrid Leech have been removed and replaced with Jarad's Orders, Ogre Slumlord, and Drown in Filth, EpicFreddi.

The confusion has been caused because tappedout's card database lists decks in the Golgari vs. Izzet duel deck as being in the Ravnica blocks.

November 15, 2016 2:17 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #47

Alright then, ladies, gentlemen and everything in between, it is time to get our shit together and start this tournament.
Here's how it will go down: In a few hours I'll post the pairings for round one. All players will be contacted about weather or not they want to play there own games.

Please ONLY replay if you WANT to play your games. If you do not contact me, I'll assum I have to play your games.
In a week or so we'll have everything cleared up and we can begin playing.

November 16, 2016 10:56 a.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #48

Sounds good EpicFreddi! Look forward to playing in this tourney!

November 16, 2016 1:36 p.m.

Homura_Akemi says... #49

Yay!

November 16, 2016 3:04 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #50

... okay, maybe I'll do the pairings today. My girlfriend waited with pizza and fallout at home, so i had other priorities.
