Current Updates —Feb. 4, 2014

UPDATE (22/01/14): I am now down to 99 cards, mission successful. Now I just need to tune the deck without spending too much money (hence the removal of Thassa, if anyone was wondering). I also decided to cut back on the counterspells, as they were taking just a little too much space.

UPDATE (04/02/14): I cut out 3 creatures that weren't doing much for the deck and replaced them with things that are more on-theme. Also now looking at replacing some non-creatures. I also made a few more changes.

Cuts:

22/01/14

Fog Bank

Guard Gomazoa

Mortivore

Thassa, God of the Sea

Counterlash

Soul Manipulation

Last Word

04/02/14

I recommend taking Drift of Phantasms ,Fog Bank ,Gomazoa ,Guard Gomazoa ,Wall of Frost , and Dimir Signet . The defenders are basically useless with your commander and the signet isn't extremely useful in two colored EDH

Uh, the Defenders have good synergy with my commander though, as they have high toughness. Also Drift of Phantasms is in there partially because Transmute is useful and tutors are expensive.

I can take out Gomazoa and the signet though, those are reasonable cuts.

Undead Alchemist could mill like crazy If you keep hitting creatures.

Seems like it could be a neat card, thought I have no idea what I'm going to cut yet at this point.

I am working similar - if you want to have way too many cards or have already cut some of these and want to pass on what you think both our decks can benefit,

PLEASE HELP(EDH)

I would remove a couple of counter spell to free some space, you have to keep 1 focus : Mill your opponent. If a counterspell can help u mill ; do it , else, don't or think about it ( for exemple : FoW is always a good card.)

  1. Force of Will is worthless in a slow format like Commander, the only reason it's good in Legacy is that it stops turn 1 combo.

  2. Counterspells and removal are very important to survive in a format with huge bomby things going off all the time. But I was thinking of cutting a maybe 3.

I'll take a look at your deck and see what's going on.

well Actually, FoW is always good in EDH, because it allows you to always have a counter in hand even if you have no mana left. I only play EDH format, and my meta is really competitive, so yea, counterspells are needed, but if you put too much of them, you cant spend your mana too much on your gamic because you have to save some for counterspells. I am mainly playing Rafiq and I play around 4-5 counterspells max because I wanna kill fast for exemple. (My 2 mains are Rafiq and Sigarda but didnt keep the online list up to date)

Force of Will is really pointless in a non-competitive EDH meta, and EDH is a casual format, so keep that in mind when commenting on decks. Unless somebody says their meta is competitive, don't assume. Also I would avoid suggesting cards that cost more than $10-$15 as a general rule unless you know somebody has a lot of money.

Ok, sorry about that, I assumed my Meta was other's meta as well, which is not the case. I'll keep that in mind :)

No problem. Sorry if I seemed short with you, I've just had to explain that to so many people since Wizards made the first Commander precons.

Eater of the Dead seems like it would have a home here, especially against creature heavy EDH decks (Like the typical goblins player...or elves.) Mind Over Matter is excellent with Consuming Aberration and it's ilk, even without a draw engine to keep it going. Freed from the Real and Crab Umbra would also help a lot.

Eater of the Dead is already in the maybeboard, ready for inclusion when I can make cuts. I'm not so sure I want to sacrifice some of my utility and creatures for untapping power. Maybe if I have extra slots later, but it's not a priority.
