There is a sweet interaction in Modern between Hardened Academic and Emperor of Bones where you can discard a creature with the Academic, go to attacks and exile that creature out of your graveyard with Emperor of Bones, then put the counter from the Academic trigger onto the Emperor to put whatever you just discarded directly into play with haste.

I've tried blending the blink deck with the persist deck to create a powerful midrange strategy with a huge power spike centered around the combo and Archon of Cruelty. But it ultimately just made it a worse blink deck and a worse reanimator deck, so now I'm just going full tilt into the blink strategy.
