General Revisions / Updates —June 5, 2021

Made the following changes to the deck...

  1. Esper Sentinel for Faithless Looting - This card feels like it was made specifically for Osgir, and seems like an obvious auto include in any white deck that's not running blue. If you're playing white, you play rhystic buddy.

  2. Manifold Key for Voltaic Key - Not sure how I missed this in the original deck list, but Manifold Key is strictly better in this deck. It can't target itself, but that won't be necessary in this deck. Being able to make a creature unlockable however, is very important in this deck. It also combos for infinite mana with Rings of Brighthearth / Doubling Cube (explained in the infinite combo section).

  3. Magewright's Stone for Arcane Signet - Loosing a ramp card isn't ideal, but the current ramp package felt adequate, and I've played countless games now where I just felt like I needed to activate Osgir more than once per turn.

  4. Doubling Cube for Lotus Petal - Being able to double mana is such a potent effect, and synergizes really well with the rest of the deck. Also combos with Rings of Brighthearth / Manifold Key (explained in the infinite combo section).

  5. Rustvale Bridge for Plains - Similar to the rhystic buddy, this card just feels like it was made specifically for Osgir. Tapped lands suck, but it gives us more ramp potential to make up for loosing Arcane Signet, and tapping for both colors is important.

I'm pretty confident in the first three changes made, but the other two will require some playtesting. Good chance I'll end up swapping those back, but we'll see.

Added the following combos to the infinite combo section...

  1. Goblin Welder + Umbral Mantle + Coveted Jewel + Mana Vault / Basalt Monolith / Thran Dynamo = Draw the whole deck

  2. Goblin Welder + Umbral Mantle + Reckless Fireweaver + any two artifacts that produce three mana (Mana Vault / Thran Dynamo / Coveted Jewel / Basalt Monolith) = infinite damage to our opponents

  3. Goblin Welder + Umbral Mantle + Quicksmith Genius + any two artifacts that produce three mana (Mana Vault / Thran Dynamo / Basalt Monolith) = draw / discard the whole deck

  4. Rings of Brighthearth + 2x Manifold Key + Doubling Cube + 5 avaiable mana = infinte mana

The first three already existed prior to this update, but I hadn't discovered them until recently. The last one was added with this update.

Cleaned up the maybeboard quite a bit, cutting most of the cards I didn't think were even worth considering anymore.

Considering switching back to viewing the deck by card types and adding a custom categories dropdown to the primer. Would help clean up the page and make it easier for folks to view the actual deck.

Current competitive meter is at 86% competitive. Still unsure how to reset this, since it's still stuck at 58%, so if anyone knows how to do this please let me know. Cheers.

Hey JeanNiBee, thanks for answering magicfmuth's question, much appreciated.

To reiterate... yes, the only reason Walking Ballista is in the deck is to be cast from hand once I have infinite mana to win the game. I've played quite a few games where it ends up in the graveyard without a way to get it back, or it just sits in my hand for the whole game. Also probably worth mentioning that only 2.5 of the 5 tutors in the deck will actually tutor for it. That being said it has also won me a few games, so it's hard to say whether or not it will continue to have a home in the deck. I may end up removing it for something that has more consistent value in the future.

Thanks again for the discussion and upvote. Cheers.

love this deck! one addition worth thinking about is Nevinyrral's Disk

Isochron Scepter imprinted with Boros Charm and a Nevinyrral's Disk on the field allow us to wipe our opponents board every turn for three mana.
