Hey! Nice deck! I made one a while ago when I was just beginning to play magic that was quite similar. If you want to check it out it's called Mana Blight. Just wanted to say I really like the inclusion of Ghostly Prison, it's a great way to shut down the opponent even more with hokori out that I'll have to include myself. I'm also not sure how much adding blue in the deck is really worth it seeing as it really limits Utopia Sprawl's effectiveness, and I think Utopia sprawl is probably a better card here than Fertile Ground (I would probably revise my list to run a 4/3 split). Freeing up those slots could also help you add a few more beaters which you might find to be helpful, given that it seems like your main win conditions are hokori himself and Garruk's 3/3 tokens, both of which seem a little bit lacking. Anyways, those are just a few ideas to throw around, I'm glad someone else is taking the time to try and build around one of my favorite creatures! +1 for sure!

Also, Leyline of Sanctity would be a great addition in the sideboard to sub in for Ghostly Prison against burn, rack, mill, and other decks that don't rely on creature damage. I understand if you don't want to spend that much money on the card, but you don't really need more than 2 and I think it'll really help you with those tough matchups.

Thanks man! Cool to see you had a similar idea. You're right on the mark with the blue being in there. I got a little hung up on the idea of having counterspells I guess, but I am nervous about my ability to protect Hokori, Dust Drinker without Remand. And I have liked the consistency that Serum Visions adds.

I'll probably make a GW version and test it out to see the differences, and base my changes here on that. Definitely will go more ramp and creature heavy. Any suggestions on particular cards?

Thanks again for the feedback.

Well one card that comes to mind if you want protection would be Blossoming Defense. Admittedly, there's not really a good g/w alternative to serum visions, but I really liked Kitchen Finks in my list, it provided much needed lifegain against the burn decks that don't care about having only 1-2 open Mana at a time, and it's an efficient chump blocker. If you decide to use the "go wide" strategy with lots of "untap land" type creatures, Voyaging Satyr was pretty effective. Lastly, if you decide to add these creatures, Khalni Hydra is very strong with hokori out.

And one last thing, since you will be ramping so much harder than your opponent, a one of some kind of card with x in the CMC (like White Sun's Zenith or something) could be really powerful too.

Prophet of Kruphix might send this deck over the top. Super cool deck

neosapien: I actually shifted the deck to GW right after you posted this haha. But you're right, Prophet of Kruphix would have been bananas. The only problem was that even though I had a massive mana advantage over my opponent, I had no real way to win after that.

Cool build! I just recently compiled a list of EDH commanders to build decks for (not necessarily to play as Hokori would lose me friends fast), and Hokori, Dust Drinker was next on the list. Really cool to see it built for modern and being able to play colors outside of white to see what this guy is truly capable of. Nice work. Upvoted.

This seems like the perfext shell to include Rhonas's Last Stand. Man, horobi's insane +1 from me.

Funkydiscogod: Mana Tithe is a good card I just don't think it's better than anything I have in there right now. Scepter of Dominance is interesting. I hadn't seen that card until now. You're right, I could potentially lock out my opponent. I'll test that, thanks

First, +1 from me. Love the idea here. Could you please make any kind of list of how well this does against certain types of decks? Or in general?

Secondly, do you mind if this is my shell for another deck? I've been looking for another modern deck to look into and man I LOVE this idea.

Lastly, how do you feel about beaters like Vigor, or Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger. For the things your opponent already has out Vigor makes your creatures almost invincible until he is destroyed, making him a target which can buy you plenty of turns. Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger makes your opponent think twice about which lands to tap, being that they'll stay tapped.

Hey, I was running Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger in my previous list, and I just wanted to point out that while Hokori, Dust Drinker is out, vorinclex's ability is irrelevant because you untap lands with hokori's ability and not an untap step trigger. I'm not saying the card isn't worth a try, I just wanted to point that out. Also if you want something to prevent them from being able to have two open lands whenever they can drop a land, Thalia, Heretic Cathar might be a nice inclusion. Lastly, I love the idea of Vigor to protect hokori and your other creatures, he could be a powerhouse in this deck.

I was taking a second look at this deck, and love it just as much as the first time. Question for you, have you thought of including alternate win conditions like Helix Pinnacle? You could include, or sideboard, cards like Ensnaring Bridge to just keep the lock going.
