The goal of this deck is to get
Rakdos, Lord of Riots
into play end of turn 4 then swing and get a cheap double strike hydra out.
Golgari Charm and Thoughtseize are there to protect my board,
Crowned Ceratok
is there to give the hydra trample.
Burning-Tree Emissary
is mostly there to help develop the board against early aggression and provide some additional pressure versus control. Zhur-Taa Druid and Lobber Crew provide reliable ways to get Rakdos out.
Savage Summoning is the janky part. My dream is to use the druid to tap green and ping on opponents' end step, resolve the summoning then play Lord of Riots. Swing turn 5 for 7 trample damage in the air, then play out a Savageborn Hydra only paying for the red/green cost and making a 7/7 double strike.
Maybeboard:
Bow of Nylea - I love the deathtouch ability with the hydra, still not sure how better I could make use of it. I kind wish there was a plain X cost hydra with native trample on it in current standard so I could drop the Ceratok and add a couple of these.
Deathrite Shaman - more ways to get Rakdos out, otherwise gravy and screws over graveyard decks, gives options.
Elvish Mystic - While looking over the list it feels one turn too slow, this might help but not sold.
Hero's Downfall - The deck ended up with next to no removal. With my playstyle of "kill everything" I usually run an average of 8 removal spells.. still not sure I won't go for that over all the charms & thoughtseizes
Clan Defiance - Not as good as Rakdos's Return in my sideboard imo, but still keeping it in mind as a decent endgame burn spell.
Sylvan Caryatid - Without the r/b scry land and spread over three colors I think I'd rather have this than the Zhur-Taa Druid... but I didn't want to get stuck with a Rakdos in my hand. It's not like I'd be able to reliably cast a turn 3 Rakdos using it.
Renegade Krasis - I have to stop myself from going too deep with the "but what if" scenarios, but this one makes me smile.
Let me know what other possible synergies you see out there that could turn this deck into a machine instead of the rickety neighborhood fireworks show that it feels like. Appreciate any and all constructive criticism :)
