Krakens!

The goal of this deck is to ramp like crazy, dig out a Stormtide Leviathan or Tromokratis and stomp face for the win!

This is a very fun deck, and nobody ever sees the Krakens coming, so they really mess up peoples' game plans.

The Cards:

Spells

Creatures

  • Elvish Mystic is ramp.

  • Sylvan Caryatid ramps, mana-fixes, and block weenies, what's not to love?

  • Kiora's Follower can ramp, chump, or attack. Mainly though, he's here to untap a fatty with Burning Anger to double the damage. Lethal comes quick with this combo.

  • Boon Satyr is here to activate ferocious for See the Unwritten. Flash him in EoT before playing it, or as a surprise blocker, or he can even be bestowed later on to push more damage.

  • Stormtide Leviathan. Main win-con. Unblockable 8/8 who keeps non-flyers from attacking? It's game over if they can't get rid of him.

  • Tromokratis . Another 8/8, and if they want to block it, they have to commit the whole team. That means if they've swung with or tapped anyone the turn before, no blocking for you! Oh, conditional hexproof too. No big deal. I'm only running two as he's legendary, and I want more of a chance to dig for 2 Stormtide Leviathan.

  • Archetype of Imagination. All of a sudden Stormtide Leviathan is no longer keeping the rest of my board from attacking, while simultaneously keeping their board from attacking. Very strong, and it's a creature, so See the Unwritten can pull one out for me.

Other:

  • Burning Anger is a win-con that people don't expect. If you have a Kiora's Follower (which is common) out, slap this on a Tromokratis for 16 hexproof unblockable damage a turn. It can also take out a big creature, but is almost always sent to the dome. Also a handy way to sneak more damage in if Stormtide Leviathan has everyone on lockdown.

  • Xenagos, God of Revels provides massive pressure. A 16/16 kraken has alot of impact on its own, and the haste means they need removal NOW to deal with this.

Sideboard

Admittedly, this needs help, and is very much a work in progress.

Well there it is! Hopefully you all like it. Please playtest, +1 if you like it, and suggest some changes. I'd love to make this more competitive.

-More changes, so I'd just like to take this chance to thank everyone who has commented, +1'd, and helped shape this deck along the way, you guys are amazing!-

So I've been playtesting alot with Taigam's Scheming, and it's absolutely PERFECT for this deck.

It brings some much needed consistency to the deck, and also allows me to play with way more versatility.

It brings See the Unwritten to the top if I need it. It digs lands to get STU out if I'm short. It sends lands to the grave if I'm flooding. Late game it helps pull out a game ending play like Xenagod or Burning Anger. The fact that this card is a common baffles me.

Since with Taigam's Scheming and See the Unwritten, my graveyard is going to be consistently large, I've added Become Immense MB. That's right, even BIGGER krakens! Also, the combo with Xenagos, God of Revels is insane. Essentially +12/12 for G? Yikes. With that combo, even Boon Satyr can kill from 20 in 1 attack.

This means I had to relegate my counters to the SB. It hurts against removal/walkers, but post-SB I can just bring them back!

So what do you guys think?
