You may play lands and cast Insect spells from your graveyard.

Whenever another Insect you control dies, put it on the bottom of its owner’s library, then mill two cards. (To mill a card, put the top card of your library into your graveyard.)

: Target Insect gets +1/+0 and gains deathtouch until end of turn. ( can be paid with either or .)_

Hey bro, sorry for posting on your wall but you have extensive knowledge when it comes to cards that’s why I’m writing this. Is there any card that’s modern legal that lets you cast creatures from the graveyard? I found Zask, Skittering Swarmlord but it’s not legal. I’m trying to build a deck around Grist, the Hunger Tide and Grist, Voracious Larva  Flip. Hopefully you can share your thoughts with this one. Thank you.

If you need more Nexus type cards you can use Ashes of the Fallen and/or Conspiracy. :)

I believe Ashes will work with Grist. However it does not work with Zask, Skittering Swarmlord (as the Commander) unfortunately. :(

No lands?

I love Grist and insects! (Not the real ones).

Surprised I don't see Amzu, Swarm's Hunger, Hornet Queen & where is my boy Zask, Skittering Swarmlord ?

Ah, that's right. There aren't many Insects that want cards in your graveyard. Zask, Skittering Swarmlord is a keystone for this sort of deck (I think it was specifically made with Grist in mind), but then you need to start making some choices.

The question in the title and the question in the post are slightly different from one another.

If a single effect moves a card through multiple zones, or more likely if a card moving to one zone is replaced with going to another zone, there will be no point at which you have priority to cast it before it is in the final zone. This is because players do not receive priority to be able to take any actions while a spell or ability is resolving.

Zask, Skittering Swarmlord on the other hand has an ability that triggers when an Insect you control dies. So the creature will be put into the graveyard from another effect or as the result of a state-based action. Then the Zask trigger will be put on the stack and will wait to have its effect until the trigger resolves. You will receive priority before the Zask trigger resolves, and can cast the Insect from the graveyard as long as it has flash.

The particular situation is: If I have Zask, Skittering Swarmlord and Vedalken Orrery on the battlefield - if a non-token insect dies, can I cast it after it dies, but before it is put on the bottom of library?

Assuming Zask’s ability is not a replacement effect.

Love the deck and love the song! Have you thought about Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest? A pretty nasty bug that can take advantage of fetchlands or other sac effects. Zask, Skittering Swarmlord seems like another good inclusion, especially with self mill sub-theme you've got going.
